A Teacher Affects Eternity

As graduation was approaching, the question running through my mind was, "What am I going to do with my life?" I knew this was an important decision, and I wanted to make sure I made the right one. I knew that I wanted to attend college, but I was debating between Physical Therapy, and Education. In making this decision, I reflected back to my Junior year in high school, when I tutored a Kindergarten class. I hadn't realized the impact that these ten kindergartners had made upon my life. With their cute sayings, their many hugs, and the excitement on their faces when learning something new; helped me to decide that Education is what I wanted to do.

When I enrolled into college, I realized that becoming a teacher is a very important task. Teachers are forming the mold of future doctors, lawyers, teachers, and much more. When I become a teacher I want to portray positive characteristics that will be beneficial to my students.

I want to be the type of teacher that shows compassion toward my students. I feel to portray this characteristic I must know each of my students learning capabilities, and what kind of learning strategy works for each child. I feel it's my job to make sure that my classroom is a safe haven for each child. I never want one student to be excluded. I feel being excluded would make coming to school a very terrifying experience for the child, and I want to make my classroom comfortable for everyone. I want to always go the extra-mile to help my students, and I want them to feel that if they have a problem they can always come to me for help.

I want to be the teacher who offers daily encouragement. I feel encouragement is imperative when dealing with children. I feel they need encouragement so that they know they can accomplish anything they set their mind to. I want to be the teacher who makes phone calls home to parents to tell of the accomplishments that their sons/daughters are achieving. I feel that giving encouragement will make my students work harder, and they will be more successful.

Essay on The Teacher As A Teacher

- The teacher plays a crucial role in education because they are the initiator, facilitator, and assessor. In a traditional sense a teacher is the alpha and beta of education, however, with new ways of thinking brought upon by different philosophers like Dewey and Freire, the beta of education lies in the hands of the student. Instead of education being based upon the teacher, there is shift in the process of education and a different understanding of how true learning takes place. The teacher acts more like a guide than a very strict dictator-type figure....   [tags: Education, Teacher, Learning, Pedagogy]

Essay on Audience and Expectation in John Clare’s An Invite to Eternity

- Audience and Expectation in John Clare’s An Invite to Eternity Although John Clare’s “An Invite to Eternity” appears to be a direct address to an unknown and anonymous “maiden,” in reality the poem is a much more complex appeal to the reader, which takes on the guise of traditional love poetry only to subvert it. In many ways, Clare’s poem seems to emulate and echo more classical poems such as Marlowe’s “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” in its direct entreaty to a young lover. However, unlike that earlier poem, Clare’s offers his “sweet maid” a less than appealing prospect for future life, presenting her with an “eternity” filled with apocalyptic landscapes and almost monumental huma...   [tags: John Clare Invite Eternity Papers]

Quality Of The Teacher : An Assessment For Teachers Essay example

- From 1988 California has established an assessment for teachers as indicated by Lynn Larsen. Many teachers are assessed so the California districts know the quality of the teaching of the teachers. Without assessment, teachers are given tenure after two years of teaching at schools. This protects them from being fired over misleading comments by students, parents, and staff. Though, at many times this tenure is taken advantage of when a teacher has poor teaching skills or the lack of effort. For the reason of certain teachers not trying to teach their classes with the right effort and dedication, teachers should be given their tenure according to their evaluation....   [tags: Education, Teacher, School, Assessment]

Teacher Is Not A Teacher Essay

- For some, “Teacher” is simply a title to describe the person who teaches vocabulary words, a math formula, or who takes students outside to play on the playground. To others, a teacher may just be the person to whom they send their child every day, as a “highly paid babysitter”. However, to me, the word “teacher” invokes a sense of pride that rises up inside of me. Teachers are professionals who take it upon themselves to make sure that students have the resources needed to lead a healthy life, to make sure children are educated in order to be able to be successful in their future, and to make learning fun and enticing for children in order for them to retain information....   [tags: Education, Teacher, Need, Want]

- Lost for eternity I suddenly awoke to a loud bell followed by the thumping of 22 feet on hardwood. Instinctivly, I tried to leap to my feet, but fell down again. Then I remembered where I was. Believe me, I ran swiftly, trying to catch up to them, but one of the soldiers caught me and knocked me out with a few punches.
