Acutrim
Acutrim is a stimulant which has two effects on the body. It is a decongestant and an
appetite suppressant. The active ingredient in Acutrim is a compound called
phenylpropanolamine. Its is an FDA approved, nonprescription appetite suppressant to be
used with a weight loss program. The drug is initially effective in controlling excessive
eating (unc-clos.tierranet.com/phenylpropanol.htm).
Acutrim acts similarly to its chemical cousin amphetamine. The phenylpropanolamine acts
on the hypothalamus, the region of the brain that controls the appetite, by increasing the
amount of serotonin-- the chemical that affect mood and appetite. This decreases the
appetite and increases the feeling of being full. Like all stimulants, it increases heart rate
and blood pressure (www.phys.com/b_nutrition/02solutions/08diet/phenylprop.htm &
www.clos.net/aaceobesity.htm). This supposedly can assist weight loss by increasing
weight loss by about an additional five percent by taking 25 milligrams thirty minutes
before eating three times a day, or by taking 75 milligrams of a slow-release formula every
morning (unc-clos.tierranet.com/phenylpropanol.htm).
When used as part of a diet plan, it may help you lose about an extra one-quarter of a
pound each week. But the effect will only last for the first month of your diet. After that,
the drug has no effect on weight loss. The weight loss may not be permanent, especially
after the drug is discontinued
(www.phys.com/b_nutrition/02solutions/08diet/phenylprop.htm).
The most common side effects of Acutrim and the active phenylpropanolamine are
nervousness, sleeplessness, throbbing heartbeat, irritability, headache, sweating, dry
mouth, nausea and constipation (www.healthsquare.com/pdrfg/pd/monos/acutrim.htm)..
It is seriously dangerous to take this medication while taking any antidepressant in the
chemical family called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO), such as Nardil, Marplan and
Parnate. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, depression, or an eating
disorder, or if you have heart disease, diabetes, or a thyroid disorder, do not take Acutrim
unless you will be monitored by your doctor. This product should not be given to children
under the age of twelve (www.phys.com/b_nutrition/02solutions/08diet/phenylprop.htm).
Although Acutrim’s utility for weight loss has been recognized for many years,
however the research and medical findings confirm the theory that the active ingredient
phenylpropanolamine is not an safe or permanent means of weight loss. An article by
Andrew Jenkins in The Journal of Physical Education briefly describes one of the dangers
The most fundamental basis of justice is the human right to live. It is unlikely that anyone would disagree with this. This right includes not only life but also people’s right to live humanely. No one should break that right, and law should protect this right. No matter what it is that violates the right to life, it is unjust because the right is formed on an inviolable basis.
... By scheduling an activity that the client can participate in and complete, it can give them a sense of mastery in a specific task. This can be beneficial for the client to feel accomplished. Another technique that I feel can be beneficial in therapy is role-playing. Role-playing can be helpful for a client to learn how to dispute irrational beliefs by becoming aware of negative feelings towards theses beliefs (Tan, 2011). In addition, role-playing can help the client to overcome their emotions and practice coping skills that are more effective. The last technique I would incorporate into therapy would be relaxation training. I would suggest ways that can help the client relax including, deep breathing, meditation, yoga, a massage or exercising. By getting the client to have methods to relax, I think it can help with managing their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
The ideal concept of American society is one in which all of the citizens are treated equal in all every realm and situation. Class, race or gender does not divide the utopian America; everyone is afforded the same opportunities and chances for success. In this chimerical state Americans are able to go as far as their dreams allow and with hard work and perseverance any thing is possible. Many Americans subscribe to this pluralist view of the Country, believing that within our democratic system it is the majority who maintains control and sets policy. Unfortunately this idyllic country does not exist nor has it ever existed. America is made up of distinct social classes and the movement within those classes is for the most part, limited to the various classes in the middle where the lines of demarcation are blurred. Although the majority of the Country's population would attest to the myth that America is a classless society, the distinctions definitely exist and influence the entire life scope of most Americans. Housing, health care, education, career prospects and social status are all dependent on the amount of wealth one has and their class standing. Our system needs the built in inequities of the class system in order to perpetuate itself and the upper class needs to have their interests as the dominant determiner of corporate and governmental power and policy.
However, there are many theories psychologists have created that describe how people learn from infancy to adulthood. For example, Piaget believed that people learned in stages in which they ultimately would reach a certain milestones and then advance to the next stage based on their age. However, many people would argue that learning is different for everyone.

It is recommended by health professionals to lose a maximum of 2 pounds of weight a week and both excessive and insufficient intake of food can cause health problem. Losing more than 2 pounds a week may pose danger such as irregular heartbeats, electrolyte changes, and loss of muscle. When losing weight, the aim is to lose fat and build muscle. Muscle is needed to help burn calories and most fad diets don 't involve exercise which builds up muscle. The weight lost in fad dieting may be muscle instead of fat and although losing muscle means you lose a few pounds, it is not benefitting the individual. Muscle helps burn calories and losing muscle mass by way of fad dieting may make it harder for a person to keep weight off in the future. Nutritional deficiencies will take a toll on an individual 's body. The natural vitamins, nutrients, and minerals gained by a good balanced diet is important to bodily functions. Lack of proper supplements for the body leads to malnutrition and can be shown as hair loss and brittle nails. There are a few bizarre and extremely dangerous fad diets done decades ago and were proved to be useless but somehow is still being done by individuals to lose weight. The tapeworm diet is one of those unusual diets. This is where a tapeworm is placed inside a person to allow for maximum food consumption without getting bigger fatter because the tapeworm will take care of any excess calories
In the land of the “American dream,” it is the common belief that there is a direct relationship between hard work and success and that those who put in long hours are bound for success and move up the social ladder. In the united states we have four major classes. The four major classes are upper class, middle class, working class and lower class. Social class in the United States can be looked at purely from economic factors such as income and also using educational, wealth and job related factors then you are placed into one of these classes. Ever since man has existed there have been issues with class it is something that has existed and divided citizens in almost every nation. America is known for its “american dream” however achieving it is far from an easy task .Although moving up the social ladder is very rare in today's society it still can be done.
When the client becomes used to being in the moment with the therapist, the client begins to see how they function within the relationship, it seems the most important thing during these transactions, is the felt sense by both parties that they are truly engaged in a real and open experience. The essence of the experience appears to be more important than the actual words spoken, it is the quality and depth of the experience that seems to bring about the freedom to let go, releasing emotions that have been trapped inside, without fear of judgment or criticism. It appears that as the client begins the journey to search out their inner needs, and set aside other people’s values, the actua...
The first step of the learning cycle is information (experience), which continues on to meaning (reflection), then ideas (abstraction) and finally action (testing). As Zull describes in his book, when we learn we change; we do something new or better, or we may stop doing something altogether (2002). The completion of the learning cycle is heavily influenced on the stimulus of emotions and its influence on motivation, attitude, and behavior. The emotions felt during each phase of the cycle allows us to change and influences what happens next, whether we want to improve on something or stop doing
Being a therapist is not only sitting in a chair listening to your clients’ problems all day. It is also not “reading-minds” as many people think and it is not giving advice or solving each clients’ issue. Therapists have many qualities that define the effectiveness of their treatment and their competence in the field. The important qualities that a therapist should have are empathic and great listening skills. In addition to, the therapist must be knowledge in their skills and in the different mental disorders in order to prevent a misdiagnosis. Furthermore, the therapist should have other qualities such as interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with the clients so they can feel secure and continue to come to therapy.
... properly interact and communicate well with their clients, they need to be emotionally intelligent, self aware, create a therapeutic relationship and develop reflective practices. All of the above contributes to an individual’s health and so it’s very important that we are able to control our emotions, correct and learn from our mistakes, examine and balance our life and create a therapeutic environment so that our clients feel comfortable, safe and trust us enough to live their life in our hands.

Since its emergence, microcredit has been viewed as a very important tool for development. Many around the world believe microcredit is the antidote for global poverty. Although the Grameen Bank focuses only on people from Bangladesh, different microfinance institutions had been established around the world. Accion International is one example of these institutions in Latin America, which started providing loans in 1973 (The history of microfinance, 2005). These financial institutions started to grow rapidly due to high demands of small loans. Poor people around the world started to lose faith to their countries’ authorities to provide for their well being and started to tur...
Most poor people manage to mobilize resources to develop their enterprises and their dwellings slowly over time. Financial services could enable the poor to leverage their initiative, accelerating the process of building incomes, assets and economic security. However, conventional financial institutions seldom lend down-market to serve the needs of low-income families and women-headed households. They are very often denied access to credit for any purpose, making the discussion of the level of interest rate and other terms of finance irrelevant. Therefore, the fundamental problem is not so much of unaffordable terms of loan but rather of the lack of access to credit itself.
