Christians Beliefs About Life

The last commandment that Jesus gave his disciples in Mark's gospel
was this

‘Go ye into the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. He
that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that beliveth not
shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my
name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it
shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover’.

This commission given to disciples enabled them to share with others
regardless of their culture, religious beliefs and backgrounds the
good news of Jesus Christ. Today, however, this could easily be
interpreted by many as a form of imposition of one faith upon another.

There is a difference between sharing and imposition. Sharing
information is communicating or informing about something i.e. a
subject or specific topic etc. Imposition is defined as to establish
or apply as compulsory. Therefore it is understandable that when
Christians communicate the Gospel and tell people that they have a
choice of accepting Christ or going to hell which is an unpleasant
truth it sounds like an imposition telling one what to do.

However, from the Christian point of view, this is a biblical truth -
accept Christ as Saviour or be condemned eternally. I also think the
reason people see this as an imposition is because deep down there is
a slight fear of this unpleasant truth in that it might actually be
true, but there is also an unwillingness to conform to Christianity.
Therefore the easiest way seems to reject the whole concept of
Salvation through Christ and blame the Christians for imposing their
faith too harshly on others.

Even Jesus did say that the way of salvation is a hard and narrow way.
So one can understand why it is difficult to accept Christ.

Britian today is seen as a multifaith society, which could be similar

- The Different Beliefs Christians Hold About the Sanctity of Life and Their Responsibility for Those at the Beginning and End of Life Christians believe in the sanctity of life. In short, life has been described as priceless, its value exceeding all other values. Christians believe that each individual has a right to life and everyone is created uniquely in their own way. In Psalm 139:13 and15 the Bible says, "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb…You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb" This is expressing that God made us, He also "knit" each part of...   [tags: Papers]

to the concept of religious pluralism. Religious pluralism is the
belief that more than one religion can teach truths. In its strongest
sense, religious pluralism holds that no religion can claim to teach
the only or absolute truth. Religion is not literally the word of God,
but rather is mankind's attempt to describe the word of God. Given the
finite and fallible nature of human beings, no religious text can
absolutely describe God, or God's will, with absolute precision.

The Christian could argue according to Ephesians chapter 4 verses 4-6

‘ There is one body, and one spirit even as ye are called in one hope
your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and father or
all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all’. Based on this
scripture, which is one of the founding pricipals of Christianity one
can see how and why the Christian zeal for preaching the gospel and
seeking to save the lost (lost according to the bible) will always be
misinterepted as arrogant and aggressive.

In conclusion therefore I believe it is acceptable for Christians to
keep preaching zealously because we believe that we are saving souls
from eternal damnation as instructed by our Lord and saviour Jesus
Christ. After all unfortunately, some Muslims are willing to kill for
the purity of their faith.
