School systems today are so lenient in their rules, guidelines and consequences; thus causing cheating, copying or forgeries to be frequently used. Many students take advantage of copying someone else's work whenever they are given the chance. Other times, students will simply have someone else do their work and turn it in as their own, not realizing the effects this behavior can create. This creates a lack of creativity, no sense of responsibility and the students will never acquire new knowledge. These practices of cheating, copying and forgery by students are unethical and should be brought to the surface whenever possible.
Students that copy other student's work are hurting themselves in the long run. Their creativity level drops every time they copy or have someone else do their work. After a while of copying and forging, the student's ability to think creatively and successfully becomes next to nothing. "Educators must continue to socialize students of all ages about the importance of maintaining high ethical standards," (Glazer 222). The educational system is where students learn these tricks and proceed to carry them on into there professional careers. Corners are too easy to cut these days, and in order for people to keep their minds as functional as possible, they need to do their own work. It is too easy for students to buy a students paper that had the same class the quarter before, reword it a little, and turn it in as their own. Students are no longer able to write a fictional story by themselves because the computer or someone else can do it for them.
Students also begin to lose the sense of responsibility when they have other people do their work. They don't feel that they have to do anything to pass a class, only that as long as they turn in a paper, their thoughts or not, they will receive credit for the assignment along with a passing grade. This creates the feeling that life will always be a handed to them on a silver platter. This type of thinking is what is going into the work environment when these people leave the education system.
Punishing students by taking them out of school will only worsen their learning ability. Raising student awareness, and teaching learning instructors on how to address the issues within their pupils will build better student-teacher relationships. A student who is more engaged in a classroom is more likely to do well and produce quality work. If we teach plagiarism as an educational opportunity, and not as an atrocity, we can improve a student’s ability to synthesize sources and integrate that knowledge in their own

The result was a broader, more encompassing definition that was clearly more strict and rigid. With the revised conduct code plagiarism cases have escalated out of control. Perhaps the problem may also be due to the increased drains on students time, in which young adults are trying to work, achieve in school, engage in extracurricular activities, and volunteer. Competition has become fierce, and the result has been an increase in plagiarism. The problem is educators have put more effort into stopping the spread than into understanding the causal factors for the upsurgence. With the increase in plagiarism, educators feel they must have a firm defense against what they see.

We need to find a way to work together and support students from all aspects. We need to value teachers and respect them. We need to stop seeing test scores as the only means to judge how well a student is doing. We need to ban the companies that provide the writers who write for a fee. Instead get back to the basics of guiding students to be the creative and capable thinkers that the future will require. For the majority of students, I am sure that they would write their own papers if they knew how to. Let’s even educate parents so that they can help stop the rapidly growing instances of plagiarism starting as early as elementary school. Teaching children at an early age to think for their selves try their hardest and do their own works would solve a lot of the problems around plagiarism.
Benito Mussolini was very kind and a simple man until he was drafted into the war and became a sharpshooter. He was a journalist and had a normal life just like everybody else until he was drafted. When he was in the war he became a sharpshooter, and his skills were greatly needed. Benito Mussolini was an angry man with a craving for power. He had dreams of ruling all of Italy, and destroying America. He was known as the “Bully” of World War II, and he thought of himself like an Italian Creaser. And if history shows anything, it’s that he was.
Benito Mussolini helped Italy rise and prosper through his persuasive speeches and ideas. He impacted the world forever as the founder of Fascism, his lack of attention and maintenance to his army changed the major outcome in the war if he had done differently, and he resurrected Italy’s economy. Mussolini brought Fascism to the world and created new perspectives. Countries today in Africa, and Southeast Asia, such as Cambodia, are fascist. Mussolini was known as the founder of Fascism and many of his fascist ways were used by Hitler to expand his empire and take control of Europe. If Benito Mussolini had never introduced Fascism to the world, Hitler’s plans may have been differently and millions of deaths could have been prevented. Benito Mussolini’s lack of attention to his army was a major part of his downfall. He invaded Ethiopia too immaturely before Italy’s army was prepared to battle and his lack of manufacturing military supplies was horrendous disaster (http://www.history.com). It was a recorded fact that the United States could produce more planes in one week than Italy could in an entire year ("9 things you didn't know about Mussolini."). Mussolini pulled his beloved country out of massive debt, inflation, and depression once his fascist policies took effect. As Italy’s economy rose so did their title of a world power, and this eventually led to attracting Hitler’s attention and alliance.

Not only does it steal someone else’s work, but it robs students of the learning experience they can gain from assignments. Plagiarism is immoral and unethical. According to the dictionary, plagiarism is “The submission of material authored by another person being represented as a student’s own work,” whether that material is paraphrased, completely copied or fragmentally copied. Basically, plagiarism is “to take ideas or writings from another and pass them off as one’s own” (Webster’s New World Dictionary). Plagiarism is a very serious topic to be dealt with, due to the fact that it can damage one’s future very severely. It is done often by students in high school and other institutes such as universities and colleges. People plagiarize intentionally and sometimes even unintentionally. The people who plagiarize intentionally are people who don’t really care about their future and career. The people who plagiarize unintentionally are people who do not cite their work properly and completely. Most people that plagiarize do not get a good mark and most likely have to face consequences such as failure, suspension or the chance of being expelled. In conclusion it is believed that one should not put his/her future at risk and try to expand their mind through the process of critical thinking independently, so they do not have to make the mistake of plagiarizing.
As students of high school and college, and even in the professional world, we are asked to research and write on subjects that are seen to be important. The research that we are asked to do, has been done many times in the past, which means people are bound to use others’ ideas and words with no recognition, sometimes without even knowing it. This leads to plagiarism, which is something many people have heard of, but never learned the true definition and the harm it can create. Schools and society need to be more proactive in explaining what plagiarism is, how to write correctly in order to prevent it, and teach the consequences plagiarism has.
Plagiarism is a serious offense and a growing trend in our society today. Some may associate plagiarism with the idea of taking someone else’s writing and making it their own. In fact plagiarism involves anything that is copied or taken and said to be of your own work. Dictionary.com defines plagiarism as “the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work, as by not crediting the author”. In fact this definition covers all types of cheating and misrepresentation of ones own work. There are many numbers and statistics that can be found on the amount of individuals that have admitted to cheating. Perhaps the most astounding number is one that was reported by Moeck in 2002 aloft of 40% of higher education students commit academic dishonesty. This number I’m sure has grown since this report and will continue to grow with the development of the Internet. There are a number of ideas and strategies that can be employed in order to stop this ever-growing phenomenon. As teachers and adults, we are responsible for stopping this trend and educating students about the consequences and dangers of plagiarism. I believe there are a variety of reasons individuals plagiarize. First, students are insecure with their own ability; they don’t believe they can do the work therefore they take others. Second, students believe they can get away with the act because they know others who have plagiarized, and there were not any consequences. Lastly, students are uneducated on what plagiarism is and do not know the consequences of their actions if they commit an act. These ideas will be the focus of the position taken on plagiarism in today’s academic society.
