Review of Journey's End
Journeys end was rejected by most managers of theatres because it was
so soon after the war, they thought the public would reject It since
it might remind them of lost family members, however after may
rejections it was finally accepted, it was branded awesome. The play
and characters reflect Sherrifs experience in the 'great war' where he
was sent home due to injury. Journeys end was a first hand account of
what the war was really like. The audience loved it because it was the
first of its kind; other war plays had just been showing the good side
of the war, not the dreadful trenches, disease and heartbreak.
Section 2
The play is set when a group of British officers are waiting for a
German attack, which will lead to their death. The captain Stanhope is
nearly going insane but coping only with the help of whiskey, Stanhope
is a tragic hero. Another officer Hibbert is close to breaking yet is
carrying on due to the continuous bullying from the captain. There is
an older wiser officer Osborne is like a father figure to the other
officers especially Stanhope. Another officer Trotter continually
provides humour he is also very lazy but loyal. A new officer enters
the company Raleigh who was a school friend of Stanhope and feels
heroism to him. There is a lot of Trench humour in the play (light
humour about the dreadful conditions that they are dealing with) an
example of this is when trotter is left without pepper for his meal he
says 'war's bad enough with pepper - but without pepper - it's - it's
bloody awful!' this shows that they try to find the funny side of the
war. There is another officer Hardy who is untidy, humorous and is
cynical this contrasts with Stanhope's leadership. There is a cook
Mason who is very similar to trotter as he is funny but he doesn't do
it on purpose so this provides the audience with relief from the other
horrors that are going on within the play.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner begins when Thomas, the main character, wakes up in the Box and only remembers his name and nothing about his past. The doors of the box open up with a bunch of boys looking down at him and they get a rope to pull him up. Thomas saw that the place was mostly farmland and was surrounded by very high walls. The place was known as the Glade and outside the Glade was the Maze. Everyday the walls of the Glade close to protect Gladers from getting eaten by massive monsters that live in the Maze called Grievers who usually came out at night. Each month a new boy was sent to the Glade in the Box. Every week supplies are delivered in the Box for the Gladers to use. Thomas meets the leaders
about trotter as he is not talked about much in the story but it is my
In J.R.R. Tolkien 's novel, The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins goes through a classic representation of the Hero’s Journey. Throughout the story, Bilbo transitions from being a complacent, sheltered hobbit, to a more adventurous hobbit. The Hobbit has all three parts of the hero’s journey; The Departure, Initiation and The Return, all of which is interpreted throughout the quest.

“I’m friends with the monster that’s under my bed/Get along with the voices inside of my head.” are lyrics to Billboard’s number two on the The Hot 100 list, Monster, which shows how much of an issue defining sanity vs insanity is (SongLyrics, Billboard). The line between the two is unclear, as pointed out in this song, sung by Eminem and Rihanna presumed to be sane but show signs of a mental disorder with the internal voices. This song is fictitious, but it relates to the real issue if determining sanity and insanity. Insanity is defined as severe mental illness, as shown through Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest the nurse in charge of making the patients sane may be insane herself (Merriam-Webster, Insanity). The patients may show the most signs of being normal even with diagnosed disorders. In many situations in the novel the line is blurred as to who is insane and who should really be institutionalized.

When it comes down to it, it is every person for themselves. It could be an individual, country, or any species wanting to survive. They all must do what will benefit themselves. If that means that you have to hurt someone else’s wellbeing, then that is what has to happen. Surviving does not always mean we should go straight to murdering, but there are times that killing someone is what is best for one’s own survival. That is the same conflict that one character in Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, goes through. That character is Andrew Wiggin, also known as Ender. The book is about how Ender is going to learn to become one of the great commanders in the war with the Buggers. The Buggers are an enemy, alien race. As this process goes on, Ender
A sequel failing to live up to the expectations of its predecessor is pretty commonplace in Hollywood, but when that movie is based on a bestselling book trilogy, the failure is more profound. That’s the case with Scorch Trials, the sequel to The Maze Runner and based on the trilogy of young adult novels by James Dashner. Scorch Trials isn’t horrible, but it isn’t really good either and many book fans felt that it was the best title in the trilogy, increasing their disappointment. Movie fans will be let down because the cinematic version also falls short of its predecessor.
Analysis of the Way in Which the Director Has Brought the Film to a Satisfying Conclusion
In his article, “The End of Solitude,” Williams Deresicwicz discusses how he believes solitude is almost, if not already gone due to the technology era. I agree with Deresicwicz, technology has made us scared to be alone in a way, and social media has become people our personal diaries. When life gives us problems or we want get away, we use to call upon our solitude. A place to get away, much like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. This was his secret hide out, built into a mountain, where he would think and get away. Much like the time this idea of Superman needing solitude, which came out in 1966, people enjoy their private lives. There was no social media, people gain knowledge thought literature and they connect with other by interacting

Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a non-fiction book written by Robert Kiyosaki. Kiyosaki takes us into his life to describe to us the difference between two separate households and how they manage money. When you first open up the book, you are immediately shown the confliction Robert has between choosing whose advice to follow. His biological father is known as his poor dad who is highly educated but doesn’t make the right choices when it comes to money. His rich dad isn’t his father but is a childhood friend’s father who is also trying to teach Robert how to manage money. Rich dad has very little education background but the way he deals with money is what made him successful. Robert’s poor dad views education as the main principle to success. As long as you do well in school, you will have a good steady job thought poor dad. Poor dad always stated “I’m not interested in money”, and “money doesn’t matter.” Rich dad on the other hand knew how to make money work for him not the other way around. He felt that in order to succeed and make a lot of money, you need to work for yourself and not others. Robert learned many lessons from both dads and he feels he is very fortunate to have had two father figures to teach him and give him examples on how to become rich and successful.
