College Admissions Essay - So Much Hate

So much hate in this world,

          Time,

                      Age,

                              Century.

So much death by so many people over the smallest fault,

         Against them,

                      They see,

                              They cannot tolerate.

Fear and shame haunt our cities,

         Towns,

                   Homes,

                           Hearts.

The hearts of those not welcomed by too many:

         Latinos,

                  Negroes,

                            Homosexuals,

                                     The Beautiful Diverse

For being who they are,

         What they are,

                   Why they are,

                           Where they are

In our high society of lip services of tolerance,

          Love,

                   Peace,

                            Community ...

Hypocrisy.

For unto those diverse we force hate,

         Anger,

                  Slander,

                            Prejudice,

                                     Pain.

From the bigots of our metropolises comes

          Hate,

                   Torment,

                            Ruin,

                                     Death.

And into great hearts we high beings plant the seeds of shame,

         Fear,

                   Despair,

                            Self-loathing horror.

The Terrible Consequences of Teaching Hate Essay

- ... It is hate that acts like a rust on our minds. Hate can slowly cause the natural process of love peace, and affections of others to oxidation. The Problems with Hate Crime Legislation Essay

- Introduction When the topic of hate and bias crime legislation is brought up two justifications commonly come to mind. In her article entitled “Why Liberals Should Hate ‘Hate Crime Legislation” author Heidi M. Hurd discusses the courts and states views that those who commit hate and bias crimes ought to be more severely punished. She takes into consideration both sides of the argument to determine the validity of each but ultimately ends the article in hopes to have persuaded the reader into understanding and agreeing with her view that laws concerning the punishment of hate and bias laws should not be codified....   [tags: Hate Crime Farce]

Love’s Hate in Sylvia Plath’s Mad Girl’s Love Song and Hate Poem by Julie Sheehan

- William Congreve, a play writer wrote, “Heaven has no rage, like love to hatred turned, Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorned” (459 Congreve). The feeling of betrayal and enraged love as described in Congreve’s mighty words, is cohesive between both Sylvia Plath’s, “Mad Girl’s Love Song”, and, “Hate Poem” by Julie Sheehan. Similarities that coexist between the two poems are: theme, imagery, and repetition. Love can be beautiful and bright, it can also be dark and depressing, as exemplified in both Plath’s and Sheehan’s writing....   [tags: Mad Girl’s Love Song, Hate Poem]

Love Theme in Shakespeare´s Much Ado About Nothing Essay

- Just like many other times before, I have never read this play or actually even heard of it. Overall, I thought the story was a little difficult to understand but the storyline was actually entertaining. With this reader response, I would like to discuss my favorite scene with Beatrice telling Benedick how much she hates him; how I wonder whether or not Beatrice knows she is talking to Benedick; and finally, Balthasar’s song and how I believe that it could be a possible theme to the play. To begin, if I were to pick out my favorite scene in the play, it would have to be Act 2, Scene 1....   [tags: talking, hate, song, speaking]

Essay About Love in Much Ado About Nothing

- Much Ado About Nothing  Love Story             Shakespeare My first impression of Much Ado About Nothing is that it would be a love story.  Although it is categorised as a Shakespearean comedy, I found the many "funny" parts of the play were foggy and required you to read the scene over a few times before you understood them.  But then again, I had to read the whole scene over again a few times to understand anything.             All of the characters in Much Ado About Nothing seemed to develop a personality of their own from the very first scene.  It also helped that I saw the movie version of Much Ado About Nothing before we read the play so I could almost get a picture in my head as t...   [tags: Much Ado About Nothing Essays]

Causes and Effects of Hate Crimes Essay

- Blacks were introduced to the North America during the 17th and 18th centuries through the triangular trade route, and were welcomed by chains, ropes, and all the horrors of slavery. Slavery was legalized by the US government and continued for a few hundred years, taking a civil war and sixteen presidents before it was forbidden. Even today, there is still much hatred between blacks and whites despite desegregation and integration; some would argue that the condition of African Americans in the United States is still one of a subservient nature....   [tags: Hate Crime Criminal Prejudice Essays]

A kind of hate that clings to one's brain sapping,

         Ripping,

                   Screaming,

                                     Probing,

Agonizingly real and unshakable as the flesh and blood that bind us.
