Work Experience

On the week starting on the 5th of July, I went on Work Experience to
Crook Log Primary School. This school is situated in the centre of
Bexleyheath where a lot of people can easily reach. I decided to do my
week of Work Experience at Crook Log Primary School because for some
time now I have been thinking about following a teaching career. At
Crook Log School I worked with Mrs Coxs and a class of children which
go by the name of Class 1/2. During the week I worked individually and
in small groups with pupils from class 1/2. I helped the children to
solve mathematical problems usually concerning money and also with
their spelling. I helped them with their spelling by sounding out the
letter sounds within the word. I helped Mrs Coxs and a variety of
different teachers with marking, filing the children's work, writing
up their reports onto a computer and planning lessons. Once a day I
was lucky enough to have some pupils from class 1/2 read to me, I had
to make comments on how well I thought they read and any improvements
I thought needed to be dealt with.

From attending a week of Work Experience at Crook Log School I have
learnt a variety of new skills. I have learnt how to use a photocopier
and a laminator, I have learnt to be more independent and reliable, I
have learnt to communicate better, I have learnt to listen and follow
instructions better, I have learnt to be aware of hazards and act upon
them quickly but safely, I have learnt how to back up documents, I
have learnt how to manage my own time and I have learnt to take
advice.

At times I enjoyed my Work Experience Placement; it made me appreciate
the hard work and care which goes into teaching. I liked working with
the children and helping them to learn and improve their education. I
enjoyed seeing their happiness, excitement and enthusiasm to learn. At
times the Work Experience Placement was hard work, tiring and

Essay on Work Experience

- Work Experience When we were first told about work experience I thought to my self 'great no school for two weeks.' I was looking forward to looking around places and trying to figure out what and where I wanted to do my work experience. I've always been good at doing things with beauty and nails and therefore I was hoping to find somewhere I could experience more about that. I started looking around in November and found many places where I would like to spend my two weeks of work experience....   [tags: Papers]

Work Experience Essays

- Work Experience I didn't choose what my work placement was to be. I turned up at Miss Franklin's office nervously hoping that I would get a good placement. She sat me down and looked through some documents. She pulled a wad out and told me that she had found a convenient work placement. She showed me the letters, and the title was BUPA Hospital, Marketing Department, Bushey. The first thought that sprang into my head was, how tedious. Then I took some time to think about the ups and downs of it....   [tags: Papers]

Essay on Work Experience

- Work Experience Work experience was an opportunity for me, and many other year 10 students across the country to experience a different world, a world outside school, a world of work. To many this was a new opportunity, a challenge if you like, but to me it wasn't all that new as I have worked for my dad at his work far from few times before. I found that working for my dad was challenging, sometimes difficult, but I always managed to get the work done and get that feel of self achievement....   [tags: Papers]

Work Experience Essay

- Work Experience Work experience. The first time those words were mentioned I felt a cold shiver slowly descend down my back. Images of spending a week with unknown people in dead-end jobs flooded into my head. It was obviously going to be far too much effort for what it was worth. Yet, another side of me said do I want to be watching paint dry, or even watching grass grow.’ This is not where I want to be. I want to be out, I want to be experiencing, living, running, jumping, eating, playing, screaming, laughing, anything....   [tags: Papers]

Work Experience Essay

- Work Experience I absolutely had no idea what I wanted to do for work experience. I had about three different options, but I always had a negative thoughts. One was to work in a bank of any sort. Well, the good things were that I think it would be fun and it does make you look smart and important. The negatives where that, to be totally honest, I was really good at money. I wasn't that smart in maths and was also a bit careless. I thought that working in a bank would make me have big responsibilities (like handling money or talking to customers) too big that I couldn't even handle....   [tags: Papers]

Essay on Work Experience

- Work Experience It was the first morning of my work experience and as I sat on the bench outside Thorntons and the nerves started to kick in. As the shutters started to rise, a burst of mixed emotions entered me. I was scared, excited, worried and a host of other feeling wriggled around inside me. I walked in the shop stiff with nerves. As I introduced myself to the assistant manager I kept missing out words as I was speaking because I was so flustered with the experience of it all....   [tags: Papers]

Work Experience Essay

- Work Experience When I received confirmation of my placement at Horndean Parish council I only had a week left to make my preparations like interviews, uniforms and insurance. My placement was late in coming because I had to keep on reselecting, eventually I found a half decent job which fitted my criteria very well, it was outside. It involved working with animals, computer work and was near to my home. I was quite chuffed with this because if I hadn't been given it I would be doing something very boring like working with the caretaker at school and not only would I have been bored but my street cred would have gone down the drain as well....   [tags: Papers]

pressurizing. The main reason I think the Work Experience Placement
was very tiring is because of my long journey, I traveled to Crook Log
Primary School by getting on two busses which lasted for an hour, this
journey is very long and boring and wore me out a lot. Another reason
why I found the job tiring is because the children are very dominant
with my time; they kept me busy all the time by asking me to explain
questions and asking for help, I had minimum time to rest which I had
not been used to.

My Work Experience Placement lived up to my expectations, I thought I
would enjoy and learn from it which I have. It has enlightened me and
made me question whether I would want this type of job for a career.
From doing work experience it has helped me to decide on my future
career. Work Experience has made me want to become a teacher even more
and I can't wait until I have a class of my own. If I was to have
another chance to do Work Experience I would definitely go to a
Primary School, I would not go back to Crook Log School instead I
would go to a private School so I could see how different schools
teach.

During the week I did not encounter any problems, if I did, I would
have confronted Mrs Coxs and she said we would have resolved the
problem together so we were both happy.

The best part of my Work Experience Placement has to be working with
the children and helping their education. I have always loved children
and I think working with them would be a perfect job for me. I liked
it when the children read their books to me, even though they were all
'Biff and Chip' books and I had heard each book at least five times! I
liked it when the children asked me to help them with problems which
they were having, this made me feel useful, appreciated and made me
proud.

I worked generally just with Mrs Coxs and Class 1/2 and I feel I got
on well with them and I feel I communicated well. I think I was polite
and showed a lot of enthusiasm. I think Class 1/2 and Mrs Coxs both
liked me, appreciated my hard work and enjoyed my company just as much
as I enjoyed theirs.

On the Wednesday of Work experience it was the schools practice Sports
Day which was amusing. The theme was the Olympics. The School had made
simple events which the children could do which represented an Olympic
event. The events looked so good I myself had to have a go, which was
very amusing when I slipped on the mat and fell flat on my face but I
wont go to much into that as I still would like to hold my head up
high.

Unfortunately there are no young people opportunities at my placement.
To work here you need to have a degree and a qualification in
teaching, so I am unable to work here until I myself get
qualifications to teach.

There are many advantages to this type of work; you are often rewarded
as you gain a sense of achievement as you see the difference you have
made on the children's education. You feel proud of your self, useful,
enthusiastic and very worth while. This job is a very happy job and
the only downfall to it is that sometimes it can be tiring,
pressurized and hard work. This is because the children are dominant
with the teacher's time.

I enjoyed working at Crook Log Primary School and would like to go
back there when I am older to work as a teacher. I warn you though if
any of you are thinking about becoming a teacher it is hard work and
not always fun and enjoyable!
