A New Journey - Original Writing

A journey begins with a step, a voice, a vision or a loved one. My
journey first began with a cry, unknowing what the future beholds, but
in the end, I found myself at a destination which I did not visualise.
A destination that was not meant to be. An end that became a new

"Please don't do this to me, Ma." I said with a shaky voice.

Already annoyed, my mother said, "I just can't afford it, okay?"

"But what about my future? If I don't go to college, I won't even have

"You know something? You are selfish. All you care about is yourself.
Have you ever thought about my position? I don't have a job. I don't
have a stable income. And you know what your father is doing about
this? Nothing. Don't talk to me about this now." She said as she
walked away.

I followed her to the kitchen, unwilling to give in. "I'm selfish?
You're the one who is selfish! Now all you think about is Gary. I'm
your daughter! I came first! I'm supposed to be number one!" I

My vision began to blur as a film of tear coated my eyeballs. "Why are
you doing this to me, Ma? Every time you come home, all you do is talk
to Gary. You know I'm alone. You know I don't have friends. And now
I've lost you. I might as well be dead." I grumbled.

"You are just so bloody stubborn! Go on. Go hang yourself." She ended
the conversation with such hurtful words.

With uncontrollable tears streaming out of my eyes, I ran into my room
and slammed the door hard. I took out my journal and put in writing
everything that had just happened. As I was doing so, I thought about
my father;

I hate him. It is his fault all this had happened. It was his cruel
gesture that caused this mess. How is it that he had the heart to do

My New Journey - Original Writing Essay

- I woke up that morning knowing exactly what I had to do. I was anxious and scared, but I knew this was a chance I needed to take. Zoella came into my bedroom with the look of quest in her eyes. I sat in a cold, wooden chair as she gracefully chopped off my hair. We locked eyes in the mirror as she began to say, “Alexa, you don’t have to go through with this if you don’t want to, it’s up to you. I am here to support whatever decision you choose to make.” I hesitantly replied back, “I am going to regret it if I don’t take this chance.” I put on my new masculine clothes and walked out of my home, frightened, but excited to start this new journey....   [tags: English-language films, World, American films]

My Writing - Original Writing Essay

- When I was a younger, I always loved books that were very vivid. The best stories were the most detailed ones. It felt as if I was being cast on an enchanting vacation in my imagination. Often I would find myself daydreaming about any book I had recently read. In these dreams, I would put myself in the story or add a whole new character. It wasn’t just the pictures that would captivate me. The selectively placed words constantly kept me wondering and wanting more. Reading these types of books inspired me to write the same way....   [tags: Writing, Paper, Creative writing, Writing process]

Journey in the Jeep - Original Writing Essay

- Journey in the Jeep - Original Writing The air in Icmeler was humid. I could hardly breathe. When the water bounced off the sides of the jetty it was incredibly refreshing. I could smell the seaweed from miles away. It was disgusting. Sweat was dripping from my brow all day long. I was constantly buying ice creams, just to keep cool. Every day I was awakened by the same sound. It was the big tourist boats revving up their engines. Every morning I would sit on my elegantly decorated balcony, and watch the Turkish men setting up everything at the harbour....   [tags: Papers]

Graduation Speech - Original Writing

- The year is almost over, meaning the time spent growing and learning new linguistic and writing strategies is coming to a close. Looking back on the long journey I have experienced first-hand, I have noticed growth with every piece that I wrote. At times the class was stressful, but it was always an extreme accomplishment to finish a paper and grow and develop as a writer. First semester, I set goals that I felt would be attainable, yet beneficial for the AP exam. The goals I established were to become more creative in my writing, expand my use of rhetorical strategies, and improve my vocabulary....   [tags: Writing, Essay, Linguistics, Piece]

The Journey Dream - Original Writing Essay

- 3987 412137 The Journey Dream I’ve always had a rush of angst surge through my veins when thinking about my future, because most of my family comes from a long line of high school and college dropouts. This subsequently led to the urging of my family to get a life career around my middle school year. I’ve never understood the appeal of a family and kids, not in any cynical way, I’d just rather experience the world more before having children. What I’ve always wanted to do is travel the Earth....   [tags: Full-time, High school]

- New York- Original Writing On the corner of Fifth Avenue, New York sits the Plaza hotel, rising above the trees of Central Park but still dwarfed by the other buildings that tower into the smoke filled sky. As you enter, the sweet and suttle sound of a harp greets you and the gleam of the marble is blinding. Tourists sit deep in conversation while business men hurtle towards doors into already moving cabs. Then you follow the golden signs leading you to the Lobby, passing pillars and chandeliers....   [tags: Papers]

The Birthday Nightmare - Original Writing Essay

- The Birthday Nightmare - Original Writing It was the misty morning of Charl's 21st birthday. Herself, her partner and her best friend were preparing to travel from dull-skied Trenton, their hometown in New Jersey to Glamorous New York to celebrate Charl's birthday. Her best friend Sarah was to drive the kitted out van and her partner Leone was to accompany Charl on their first travel from the time when they were at college. Now geared up, they set off to New York. The Dodge Durango STL was travelling down the B849 at a steady speed as Leone luckily escaped a fatal car crash when he was 11, so he was slightly uncomfortable about travelling on reasonably sized jo...   [tags: Papers]

The Auction - Original Writing Essay

- The Auction - Original Writing The rain battered down upon the small, shivering figure that sat in the corner of the bus shelter. It had been sat there for three hours now and was starting to lose all hope. This dishevelled figure was of course, me, and it was I that had been sitting in the tiny, incorrectly named bus shelter, for in this particular place there was no hope at all of indeed gaining shelter, waiting for the past three hours for a bus that seemed as though it would never come....   [tags: Papers]

Death Camp - Original Writing Essay

- Death Camp - Original Writing It all began when a group of old friends decided they wanted to go camping for the weekend. All they wanted was to have a laugh, get drunk and have good last memories of their time together before they went to university in different parts of the country. Camping seemed like a perfect way to say goodbye, or so they thought. Sitting around a warm campfire, toasting marshmellows and sharing memories, they would remember the good times and leave on a good note, the troubles of the past forgotten....   [tags: Papers]

Original Writing Essay

- Original Writing On my way back home after relaxing Christmas holidays, I was greeted with a special edition of a daily national newspaper. The main headline was separated by a huge picture of athlete Tessa Sanderson. In this context, she was a black woman at the centre of an investigation into the enigma that is the Queen's honours. Shrouded in secrecy and privacy, for as long as I can remember, I have never really understood how the whole system works. From an early age, all that I could comprehend from the ceremony was that all the people involved became sirs and ladies....   [tags: Papers]

what he did? A divorce letter is not a birthday present. And he had
the bloody cheek to say that it was a joke! He disgusts me.

I was hurt that he left me but I was more hurt that he had hurt my
mother. For a woman who was immune to pain, who had gone through so
many hardships in her life - she cried. For years she had been waiting
for her 40th birthday, hoping for a change for the better, but
instead, she was left with a dark memory.

And as for me, I lost a father and that was that. It didn't matter
much to me at that time because on that day itself, I gained love,
from a boy who became my saviour. It is ironic how I could be so happy
and devastated at the same time. But as much as I hate to admit it,
there are times when I wish that my father did not leave. I missed
sleeping on his stomach, hearing those mysterious noises in there. I
missed running to him every time I had a fight with my mother. I
suppose there were times that he did love me but his love was like
chocolate -- a mere momentary pleasure that keeps you wanting more.

I am confused. I miss having a father and yet I hate mine so much that
I constantly wish he was dead. I know I do not need a father but who
doesn't long for a perfect family? It gets to me sometimes when I
leave "Father's Name" blank on forms or when people ask, "Where's your
dad?" Although I do have a father, he plays no part in my life nor do
I want him to. I am even considering changing my last name when I grow
up so that when my name is on the shelves, he nor his family can take
credit for my achievements. They had never truly cared about me. They
only wanted to control my life with luxuries. But my pride is worth
much more than that and they can never take it away from me.

And so it began, a new journey, in a family of two. So there are fewer
Christmas presents, red packets for Chinese New Year, and fancy
functions to attend. But there are also fewer screaming, nightmares,
and tears. Not having a father may not be so bad after all. With every
loss, there is a gain. Thus, with all fairness, I have not lost. In
fact, I have gained something more worthwhile. I've gained passion in
the things I do, endurance, and independence - things that would
prepare me for the dog eat dog world that awaits me.

"I'm sorry, Ma, for shouting at you the other day." I said as I
approached my mother.

She took my hand and said, "Connie, you know I love you very much and
that I'll never give up on you. But right now, please just be patient
with me. I'm trying my best to make things work."

She took a moment and then continued, "Gary is helping me find a job
and he's temporarily supporting me financially. Unlike your father, he
understands. And I hope you will too."

As I smiled and hugged her, a tear rolled down my cheek and I felt a
relief and I knew from then on that everything is going to be all
right. I am going to be just fine.

After I pulled away from her, I asked her with a hopeful grin on my
face, "Ma, since you have a boyfriend, can I have one too?"

"Don't push it."
