It is an honor to be given the opportunity to stand before you all today. In the United States the word “Nam” has come to embody many things for the people. This tiny, unremarkable word carries with it a tremendous weight. It can give one a variety of feelings such as, but not limited to, sorrow, disgust, anger, embarrassment, regret, and confusion (Newman 700). Understand what each soldier goes throuhg in order to preserve your rights as Americans. If Communism took over our country, think of all the rights you've been fighting to gain, only to be lost amongst such a collectivist nation aimed at gaining economic fortune while having its citizens live in terrible circumstances. No one would be able to help you from this future misfortune. That is why it is your turn to act NOW to ensure a safe future where Americans can embody the land of the free and the home of the brave. Just understand that the United States knowingly involved itself in this democratic ideology and vowed to help support France in its struggle against the Vietnamese (Newman 730).
