Today it is all about the latest and greatest. Then again, who does not want the latest version of some fantastical gadget that you have to have “now”? In the twenty-first century, technology has been shoved into the pool of international application and without floaties has swam through it with flying colors. Technology has shaped the way the world runs today; from airports to enterprises, big companies and even education have all been radically changed by the emergence of successful technology. Not only has it shaped the outside world, it has changed home-life as well. Read the following scenario, and note how technology surrounds the lives of just one hypothetical family:
While dear old dad takes a conference and shares his presentation via screen share on his computer, mom is in the kitchen checking her PDA to see when her appointment is and notices it is someone’s birthday on Facebook, so she tweets about it. Sally sits at the table texting her boyfriend and listening to music on her Smartphone as she updates her relationship status on Facebook from “single” to “in a relationship”. Bobby eats his breakfast and shoots an email to all his teachers saying he will be “sick” that day. On the way to school, Sally sees one of her friends with the new iPad 3G, and her friend uses it to type up and email herself an essay that morning that had just slipped her mind. As mom goes off to her appointment, she runs into one of her friends at the salon who reads from her Nook one of the Twilight books since she wants to know what her daughter is actually interested in as an attempt to generate bonding between them. Technology is one of the most important things in everyone’s life. Technology improves every day. in regards to today’s youth, they were born with all the new technological inventions as opposed to our parents. In “Quality Time, Redefined” by Alex Williams, published in the New York Times, the author talks about the positive and negative effects on technology. I enjoyed this reading because it related my personal day to day life. Even though some Americans acknowledge that technology is a part of their everyday life, they do not see the negative outcome of technology, they are blinded only by the positive aspects.
Mr. Richtel, though, doesn’t seem content to let people go about their lives without realizing the potential ramifications overuse of technology might have on their lives. By shining a spotlight on an actual family, he seeks to show his readers how families in the modern age truly exist, and perhaps to have his readers recognize behaviors similar to those described in the article in themselves, and make a conscious effort to try to change their habits.
The essay “My technologically Challenged Life” by Monica Wunderlich has made me realize how much we need technology in our lives and how important it is for people to know how to use it. Technology is used for many different things like keeping in touch with relatives that live far from you and many other things. Technology keeps evolving very rapidly and it can be hard for people to keep up with all this new technology coming out, this is what this story is about. In this essay, a woman tells us about her experiences with technology, and tells her difficulties in everyday life because of her lack of experience with technology.

On the other hand, parents should become aware on what exactly their children are playing. In this generation technology is becoming more popular and video games are producing more and more in order to catch the children’s attention especially the violent ones. Games like “Mortal Kombat” “WWE” “Madden Football” and many more. Children learn from what they see, so if they see violence in a video game they will become more aggressive and have a bad behavior. Playing video games is a very popular activity for today 's youth.These games play a huge part in a lot of people 's social lives.Violent video games have a negative effect on children by teaching the kids to associate violence with pleasure,changing their look towards violence as a natural and positive behavior,and increasing the likelihood of participating in aggressive and violent behaviors outside of a virtual environment.Some games, even connect to the internet which allows the children who play them to have discussions with others they don 't even know.While some games do provide a positive impact on children 's lives a majority of them do not and that majority emphasizes negative behavior and promote violence.
In recent years, technology has developed very rapidly. This has led to many arguably both positive and negative changes in our everyday lives. One such change was the increased accessibility of personal computers and gaming consoles as well as the introduction of numerous video games. Due to their entertainment value, these games gained popularity among children and teenagers. Although many concerns have been voiced related to playing video games, especially those that are violent, [e.g., increases in aggressive behavior in children (Anderson & Bushman, 2001)], this paper will argue that certain video games also have beneficial effects. Shooter games are to be seen as a cause and effect for violence today. It doesn’t matter how old the person is, video games can affect people or escalate problems which can cause injury or even death. Too often gamers can become altered by the events that occur within a video game that they or a friend has played before. I think it is always a good idea to talk to someone that is older than yourself, like your grandparents to remind you of the times in their younger years. The opinions of many people vary on technology and the effects it has on today’s society. Some say that it’s more beneficial than anything, others completely disagree, and some have mixed emotions. Would you rather read out of a book, or play online learning games with a possible risk of eye problems? It’s about taking matters into your own hands. 71% of people believe technology has improved their lives. 76% of people completely disagree by saying that technology creates a lazy society and that is distracting and corrupting. Daily life with technology is also another huge issue in society. According to a survey taken in January 2013, people feel their work productivity has dropped 8% in the last year. They also felt that their relationships with their family at home dropped 4% in the past year. The opinions vary, but they are needed to show how technology is affecting different people.
