Victoria’s Secret; the company
Founded by Roy Raymond in 1977, now their sales have reached over $6 billion. Through catalogues, thousands of stores, and their website, Victoria’s Secret sell bath and body products, clothing for all seasons, shoes, and of course, undergarments. Roy Raymond started Victoria’s Secret in San Francisco in 1977, basically because he was depressed by the choices of undergarments when he was shopping for his wife. He was thoroughly unimpressed by the styles and the choice of materials designers were using in 1977. Also, he complained that the sales people made him unwelcomed and as if he were intruding on something highly personal. He vowed to have a place men could pick highly desirable pieces of undergarments for their wives or whoever, and not feel ashamed or embarrassed, instead they would feel welcomed and encouraged to come again.

They both sell lingerie, basic under garments and brassiere. They both sell to the everyday wear as well as the sexy wear for special occasions. I do not know why the option of going to Frederick’s is worse than Victoria’s Secret but it is. As I stood in front of Frederick’s and saw the deep red walls with the very voluptuous girls on the banners I just could not find the products appealing. The girls have more sex appeal than Victoria’s Secret models even in pictures. The models for Frederick wear darker makeup with the brassiere pushing their breast out of their bra cups. Even comparing the famous models that are a part of the campaign are so different. Megan Fox is the global ambassador of Fredericks of Hollywood and she is the perfect look of sultry and oozes sex appeal. She embodies her bright red lips to her curvy body making every person want to lust after her. Victoria’s Secret models are beautiful and curvy but they smile and they look very comfortable in their advertisements. It appeals to the general public instead of just someone trying to seduce a man into
Abercrombie and Fitch was initially started in 1892 by David T. Abercrombie. An outdoorsman himself, Abercrombie wanted to create a clothing line that was suitable for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and hunting. Ezra Fitch, a lover of the Abercrombie clothing line, decided to become a partner in the company, this making what we know today as Abercrombie & Fitch. This partnership began in 1900 and subsequently ended in 1907 when David Abercrombie resigned from the company due to personal differences. The company proved to be a success and had much interest in expanding their company in order to draw in more business. The first major executive decision came shortly after Abercrombie’s resignation. The A&F catalogue was a cross between a clothing magazine and a guide to the outdoors. It gave information and advice to campers, hunters and fishers and also simultaneously provided a wardrobe for these activities. This catalogue increased both sales and notoriety. It brought Abercrombie and Fitch to people all around the world. Unfortunately, success was not everlasting. The company endured very tough financial times during the early 1960’s and 70’s and eventually declared bankruptcy in 1977. In 1988, success came again when The Limited Inc. bought Abercrombie and Fitch. Abercrombie is now a 223.0 million dollar corporation.
The clothes she is designing are simple, elegant and well-fitting to the female body giving women the confidence needed to wear these clothes to work, relax and as casual, every day, wear. Beckham’s designs can adapt to the different bodies that exist and have become very popular around the work because they are simple, elegant and supreme. In a YouTube video, Beckham has said that she herself would wear her own design and because of this her designs have become very popular and available to many individuals. Currently there are more than 500 stores who carry the VB brand. VB provides designs for the “trendy” woman who works and cares about fashion and style. Beckham’s designs are very reserved, in the sense that they cover the body adequately and in no way or form depict nudity or improperness. Due this “reserved” design, Beckham’s designs are seen as socially acceptable designs that have a focus on the artistic aspect and general overview rather than the skin showing clothes designs that many like to wear in the United

“Sex sells” has been used as an excuse to exploit and humiliate women through advertising for years. It is seen everywhere: television, movies, magazines, billboards, literally any place that can have an advertisement put in/on it. One company that specializes in advertisements composed of sexualizing women in order to sell their clothes is American Apparel. For years, they have created degrading ads that make the average believe they need to look like these images in order to feel good about themselves. Advertisements like these have a negative effect on society and especially women but American Apparel has taken things to a whole new level of exploitation.

Lot long later. In 1985, Alexander left his job at Sportsgirl and established his own sleepwear label. He named it after himself and with the support of his friends and family, Alexander began sewing pyjamas in his parent’s dining room to sell to local department stores. At one stage, a store cancelled an order of 2000 pairs of pyjamas so Alexander frantically searched for people to buy them. He sent in an advertisement to Cleo that was accepted and published in their magazine and from that one advertisement, Alexander received an additional 6000 orders.

Mr.Lauren had more dreams to fulfill. He chose the name Polo for his line of ties because the sport repsented to him a lifestyle of athletic grace and discreet elegance, an image of men who wore well-tailored, classic clothes and wore them with style. With that image in mind, Mr Lauren established Polo as a separate menswear company in 1968, producing a complete line of men's clothes. Using only the finest fabrications, Mr. Lares's menswear was distinctive, innovative, but always classic and refined. His suits blended the American Ivy League natural shoulder silhouette with the fitted shape and expensive fabrics of the best European custom tailored clothing. His shirts were all cotton, richly patterned and expertly made. This same care was, and still is, applied to every element of...
As a result, the customer will most likely come back to the store they are already familiar with. To this extent, the retailers can also send out gift cards, reward cards to customers rewarding them for loyalty to the store. Some people think it is manipulating people into buying goods, but it is not true. The customer always has to choose whether to buy or not. No one is forcing them to buy anything.

Clothing has been around for thousands of years; almost as long as the modern human has. At first, it served the practical purpose of protection from the elements; but, as life for early humans stopped being a constant struggle to survive, they started noticing how they looked and the concept of fashion began to take shape. These first few garments were typically dyed draped cloth that was pinned at the shoulder and/or waist. This was seen in many ancient civilizations around the world, Greek and Roman the most notable. Over time, clothing began to get more and more complex and formed to the body’s shape, eventually leading up to the tailored style we now have today. However, the sophisticated world of Haute Couture; or high fashion, can distinctly trace its roots to Paris during the mid-19th century. Clothing from there was thought to be superior to those from anywhere else, and women began to come from all over Europe just to buy dresses. This was probably due in part to one notable dressm...
