Since safety is one of the main top buying consideration for customers, significant inventions which improve the safety of cars plays a huge role in bringing up the sales for each car manufacturers. Many car makers compete to create cars with high level of safety, meeting the demand of the motoring public.
German automobile manufacturing company BMW’s current productions feature several new technologies such as the Active Blind Spot Detection in their 7 series flagship (2009 models). A lot of cars on the road these days have blind spot monitoring systems, in which the visual warnings will be displayed on the side mirrors to let the driver know about the car approaching from the blind spot.
What makes BMW’s Active Blind Spot Detection system outstand the other car in the showroom is that its steering wheel vibrates to warn the drivers when they are trying to change lanes without noticing the warning on the side mirror.
One of the technology that are current being develop is the cars that can communicate with each other. This is indeed, a huge thing to create and develop as it does not only involve one car manufacturing, but it involves every other car on the road. Of course, it would require many modifications (Not to talk about the idea of creating a ‘maglev cars’ which will use electromagnetic force to levitate and move the car would require changing the whole road system!) as it involves all vehicles in the road. Ford Auto Company and the US government have been working on this project. First is the Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication (V2V). This would allow cars to communicate with each other through wireless radio signals to share information between cars regarding their location, speed and direction. When cars communicate ...

For all these features any car can still crash so this report aims to make you more aware of the safety aspects of modern cars and what role they play in driving.
For 2017, Chevrolet has updated the active safety features to include side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning.
Therefore, it is the company’s responsibility and duty to inform the public about safety issues that come with lightweight cars, and leave the people with the freedom to choose whether or not they buy this product. Even though this process might decrease sales, however; the company’s superiors must put themselves in a position where someone offered them a product without informing them of their dangerous sides and refuse to do things to others what they refuse to be done on themselves.
The driverless cars work all by today’s technology the google car for example needs a (LIDAR) a lidar is used to build a 3D map and it allows the car to see potential hazards or objects by bouncing a laser beam off surfaces surrounding the vehicle to accurately determine the distance of that object. A (RADAR) the radar is hidden in the front bumper with two sensors there and two sensors in the rear this allows the car to avoid impact by sending a warning to the person on board to apply the brakes or to move out of the way when appropriate. (HIGH POWERED CAMERAS) the cameras are mounted to the exterior of the vehicle with a slight separation. This gives the viewer an overlapping view of the cars surroundings and it also looks at the depth and filed of objects around it. Each camera has a 50-degree view and it is accurate to around about 30 meters, which helps in many ways. (SONAR) the sonar is another camera but with a narrow field of view and its range is a lot shorter this camera only goes to about 6 meters. However, it provides
Movement is an everyday household word that we use instead of saying motion. Motion is a change of an objects placement in relation to the direction it went and time. Motion was explained by a now famous scientist who goes by the name of Issac Newton. He came up with the 3 laws of motion. The law that is being focused in is Newton’s first law, often called “Newton’s first law of inertia”. Newton’s first law is commonly stated as “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted on by an outside force.” Put simply, an object that is moving will keep moving in the same direction and the same speed unless another force acts upon it and an object that isn’t moving won’t start moving unless there is another force that acts upon it. Inertia is the term that scientist use to describe the way that objects resist change in its motion. Inertia is directly related to an objects mass. The greater the mass of an object, the more inertia it has In other words, the heavier an object, the more resistant it...
New technologies that are interactive are increasingly becoming sources of distractions, and people are becoming more focused to devices resulting to reduced focus on the roads when behind the wheel. This distracted driving is becoming an alarming issue on the roads.
Modern vehicles have taken up the call, pun intended, to integrate with cell phones. It is not surprising either as a recent report has shown that there are more smart phones and mobile media phones in than there are people in the world (independent) and that the average person spends 2 hours plus a day using mobile apps (Cnet). That equals an outstanding 730+ hours per person per year. Because apps and cellphones have been at the front of automobile safety, resulting in much legislation preventing the use of certain applications, phones, and features, Apple and automotive manufactures have joined together to create Apple CarPLay.

It has producing, assembly, service and sales subsidiaries throughout the world. For the sake of this project, I will be focusing on BMW’s automobile range mentioned above but specifically the 3 series line. The BMW 3 series proves to be the most profitable line due to its relatively low cost and affordability whilst featuring the thrill and power of a German engineered vehicle.
Motor accidents are one of the leading causes of unintentional injuries in the United States. In the year 2000 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated that around 41,000 people were killed in traffic accidents within the United States. This mortality rate has since dropped 25% from 2000 to 2009 (Rockett et al., 2012). There are many reasons for motor vehicle injuries, ranging from lack of seat belt use, elderly drivers, alcohol and young children being improperly secured. All of these things factor into motor injuries differently and must be addressed as a separate problem. Highway safety is an important issue in public health and many things have already been implemented to help reduce accidents and injuries. Actions like mandatory seat use, shatter resistant windshields, speed limits, and child restraints.
The use of technology makes our daily tasks easier, such as a better sense of direction while driving via a GPS, safety features in our cars such as Auto Drive and Auto Park. These technologies have made driving an easier and enjoyable experience as well as reducing our chances of getting into accidents. The research presented in the following article “Driven to Distraction [in car technology]” provided surprising conclusions. Professor John D Lee from the University of Iowa states the following issue: “Technology is changing very quickly. Many of these things coming into the car were not designed to be used in it.”(Edwards 8). He proves that there are a lot of in car technologies in today’s society that can demand our full attention without us even knowing, and can lead to tremendous consequences that can become dangerous distractions on the road. Satellite navigation (GPS) makes our lives easier because it can give us the correct directions to a desired address. This is unlike the past where the navigationally challenged would consider it a nightmare to drive to a new location.
Audi, one of Germany’s first automobile producers, has been designing and building cars since August Horch, its founder, completed his first car in 1901. Over the years following, a series of innovations and mergers have led Audi to the position it is in today. Audi’s subsidiaries include companies to facilitate international operations, part manufacturers, a vehicle customization company, a technology research company, and Lamborghini Corp, a successful sports car manufacturer. Audi’s current developments include its holding the EU Seal of Environmental Protection, and a number of technological advancements, including new car designs and a “seeing car” technology that has been nominated for the German Future award for Technology and Innovation.
Being distracted behind the wheel of a car can be very dangerous. Even taking your eyes off the road for a split second can be dangerous. Now of days we have a lot more things that can distract us like social media and text messaging and it doesn’t matter if you're a professional driver or if you're terrible at driving, it doesn’t matter because if you're looking down at your screen, how are you watching the road? These are things that can be a factor in your choice to do this or not. People say, well I am a great driver so I will be fine but really if you're such a great driver than you should know that you need to see to be a good driver.
