Vegan Vs Vegetarian Many vegans and vegetarians were not born within this way of eating, they adopted this lifestyle, whether for health benefits, religious beliefs, moral considerations, environmental issues. Little by little this trend has been growing in the last decades, “became even more popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s” (Des Chenes 19). But while these styles of eating have its devotees, it also has its fair share of critics. The vegan diet often refers not only to nutrition, but also to an attitude and lifestyle that rejects other forms of animal use such as producing consumer goods or for human fun, mostly are ecologists and naturists. On the other hand, the vegetarian diet is less strict than the vegan diet, there are different types of vegetarians some may include eggs and dairy products, and another group only consume eggs but not meat. Being vegetarian is a change of diet unlike that veganism is also a lifestyle. It can be said that the lifestyle is healthier and respectful of animals and nature. In addition to the multiple personal benefits derived from the rejection of food or consumer goods obtained from cruel, unfair and unnecessary exploitation of animals, the adoption of veganism contributes to protecting the environment and improving the quality of life of the entire planet, in a social coexistence based on non-violence “for health reasons and ethical ideas that chose not consume animal protein” (Model of the process). Vegetarian diet is a healthy and natural lifestyle but unlike vegans, vegetarians can consume products of animal origin but in limited quantities or consume only some products, and can use animal products such as leather and skins, the difference between vegans and vegetarians is not just the type of food, vegetarians do not exclude products of animal origin in its entirety. Veganism, it is a healthy way of eating but it also has certain health risks. It has been scientifically proven to suffer from deficiencies of certain vitamins.
