Art is presented in all shapes and sizes. It can be created with paint, clay, a pencil, or even a camera. Hundreds of artists’ works sell for a fortune and can be recognized all over the world. However, what is discernible about famous, known art and the average toddler’s self-portrait? What is art?
Historical/ personal events can be removed from one’s memory and be input to a piece of paper. “Lew’s top pick from his submissions is a painting called “A Gathering Storm.” It shows a darkened sky he saw out his window one morning.” (“Reading Man” 2) A personal experience painted on a canvas can make the audience feel as if they were associated with the story. When you look at art, your surroundings transform and bring you to a different time. A sculpture or a photograph can explain one’s personal experience and make you feel a part of it. Art captures moments and savor them forever.
