Recently, office of the New York City Comptroller reported that New York needs to spend $129 million dollars to get risk of flood.(Emily) This brings back to the question; where have our money gone? $ 129 million dollars are not a small number but what we can do. To keep our economy in the line, we have to repair those constructions that destroyed by Mother Nature. To be honest, if our nature wasn’t get angry, that much amount of money can save so many people lives and give jobs to so many people who lost their job because of our economy at the risk of collapse. Our life is getting harder and we tried many ways to bring it back. One way that we have been working on with green economy which can work with our nature very well. Green economy mostly used nature resource to create energy. For example, solar panel used solar power to create energies from the panel. The heat comes from our sun will turn into energy and create electricity or into other type of energy. For anyone who do or do not know about physic, you will learn that energy is never disappear, they are just transfer from one type to another type of energy. Heat is one type of energy and they can turn into electric energy throw solar panel. Because energy is transfer from on type to another type which will not cost anything or create anything after they transfer into another which will not create CO2. Additionally, if we use this type of economy, we will able to reduce CO2 because we don’t create any CO2 and let our nature (trees and other type species can use CO2 as their food) absorb extra CO2 from our atmosphere and release oxygen. Therefore, green economy will be save our earth health by reduced …show more content…
However, we will not able to create enough jobs that can be suited for women. This bring back about women right and equal. Now a day, every countries in our work keep fighting for women right and they want to create more jobs and pontunity for them to take care themselves and their family. However, our main point for green economy is still to bring back as much jobs as possible. We want to help many people who have no job will be able to work and take care their family which doesn’t matter if it is a man or women. So many people lose their jobs and if we are so picky because we will have not enough jobs for women and not choose green economy as our main energy. Then, will we have enough jobs for anyone? And our future event worse because no jobs available. Think about our generation now a day, so many students whose have master or doctor degrees but they are not able to find a job after their graduation. So why did they take those four years education
Already scientists have observed that more than 75% of the recent economic losses are caused by natural hazards which can be attributed to wind storms, floods, droughts and other climate related hazards. In the year 2008, the U.S. state of Iowa was on the front pages of newspapers all around the world. Weeks of heavy rain in the Midwest caused rivers to swell and levees to break. Millions of acres of farmland are now underwater, their plantings most likely destroyed. By March, Iowa had tied its third-highest monthly snowfall in 121 years of record keeping, and then came the rain. April’s st...
MR: First of all, to get a new energy system, new jobs have to be created; so, economy grows up. Secondly, it is estimated that energy can get cheaper in a 20-year term. Lastly, having clean energy means having a cleaner world, which is positive to ourselves because it makes us healthier (“The Solutions Project”, 2011).
The Kyoto Protocol was developed in Kyoto, Japan in 1997 and came into full force on the 16th of February 2005 in an effort to compact climate change (“Kyoto Protocol Reference Manual,” 2008). By targeting green house gas emissions, the Kyoto Protocol created an effort to “promote sustainable development (“Kyoto Protocol To The United Nations,” 1998).” The protocol’s goal was to reduce green house gas emissions from 1990 by 4.2% by 2008-2012, which 37 developed countries signed and pledged to (Schiermeier, 2012). With such a specific target, the goal was clear and quantifiable, making it easy to measure, when the time came, whether or not the Kyoto Protocol’s goal had been reached. Also, the involvement of these 37 countries was crucial in obtaining the goal. Without international cooperation the goal of reducing carbon emissions would never be effective as green house gasses effect the entire globe’s atmosphere not one local
increasing the supply of renewable energy would allow us to replace carbon-intensive energy sources and significantly reduce U.S. global warming emissions… a 25 percent by 2025 national renewable electricity standard would lower power plant CO2 emissions 277 million metric tons annually by 2025—the equivalent of the annual output from 70 typical (600 MW) new coal plants (“Benefits of Renewable Energy
The sun has been a major aspect of life since the beginning of time. People used many other forms of energy before electricity was discovered. There has been a debate over energy resources for years. Many people are worried about what current energy resources may be doing to the environment. Oil spills and nuclear power plant mishaps have only been a few accidents that have had a big impact on the environment and the people who inhabit it. There are plenty of energy sources that do not harm the environment and are still able to get the job done. Solar energy is one energy alternative that will insure the betterment of the country and, at the same time, protect the natural environment.
With the rapid growth of our global population pouring into the next millennium, we will witness an ever-growing hunger rate around the world. That is unless we call for a revolution on the global scale. The Green Revolution which already sprouted in the early part of the century only need to add a bit more momentum and we will see a bright future for the human race, a future without hunger and starvation ¡V hopefully. It is becoming increasingly difficult for the planet to support its overwhelming population. And since the amount of arable land available is becoming scarce, we must seek ways to dramatically improve crop yields of existing cropland.
First, the environment itself have direct economic benefit. It is proving most of the basic asset which is supporting the human development. If the environment is damaged, it then can be seen as economical loss. On the other hand, if people protect the eco-balance and the environment, it is a bonus for the asset. One economist in China calculated the economic value of a tree in the Chinese mountains. Other than being the material of buildings or papers, it create at least fifty thousand dollar worth of air purification and soil and water conservation. Again, use China as an example, the Chinese economy lost at least fifty four billion dollar because of air and water pollution, which is a large percentage of its gross domestic product. We can see here from this example that environment itself is part of the productivity. The natural endowment is a very important aspect of a country or region’s economical development. There are three basic steps of development of human productivity development, obey they nature, conquer the nature and find balance with the nature. Now, most of the big world economy is heading toward the green energy utilization. Find the balance between our development with he nature, the environment is the ultimate goal. Second, the environment can affect the economy indirectly. Environmental cost constraints is an important
Alternative energy sources are renewable, and is most commonly referred to as free energy sources. There are many alternative energy sources such as hydro power, solar power, wind, biomass, and geothermal. Using alternative sources is more expensive in the long run, but it is the much safer option for our environment compared to fossil fuels. Although everything used is completely free, such as water and wind, the equipment used to generate these things are expensive. There are several pros and cons that come with the utilization of alternative energy sources.
According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, “Renewable energy — wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and biomass — provides substantial benefits for our climate, our health, and our economy.” One major benefit is that there would be little to no global warming emissions. Currently, electricity production accounts for about one-third of the emissions put off by the United States, mostly due to coal-fired plants. Renewable energy sources would produce little to no emissions. “According to data aggregated by the International Panel on Climate Change, life-cycle global warming emissions associated with renewable energy—including manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance, and dismantling and decommissioning—are minimal” When comparing renewable sources to natural gas, which emits between 0.6 and 2 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt-hour (CO2E/kWh), renewable sources such as wind, solar and hydro-electrical power emit somewhere between .07 and .5 (CO2E/kWh). It is obvious that renewable energy is the way to go in order to solve the energy production problem. (Benefits of Renewable Energy
ways. The use of electricity will reduces the usage of the earth’s resources such as gas and oil.
If we did stop all Green House Gas emissions, we will most likely stop climate change as it is the prime problem of global warming. This will take a long time, not years but probably centuries if humans did not care as it they did today. If people were to care about global warming, this problem would have been solved a long time ago. This is because, in order to solve a problem, you need to go into the problem itself and fix it within. Many lives will be saved from natural disasters but as we know, majority of the human race are so selfish that they do not care about what happens to the Earth or anyone else, only themselves.
Global warming is an extremely important and troubling aspect of the world’s current situation. This is due to the fact that the majority of the world’s energy production is from non-renewable energy sources, which are energy sources that either can not be naturally replenished or require thousands of years to be restored. Based on our current energy usage growth rates, there are an estimated 100 years left before our natural resource reserves are exhausted. (Non Renewable Natural Resources: How Much Is Left, Environmental Thinker) China alone consumes nearly as much coal as the combined usage of coal from the rest of the world. (US Energy Information Administration, China Consumes Nearly as Much Coal as the Rest of the World Combined) There is visible evidence of this happening with the increasing pollution levels. Carbon Dioxide and Methane pollution levels in the world reached a record high in 2012 and are 260% higher than the pre-industrial levels. (UN: CO2 Pollution Levels at a Record High, John Heilprin) Converting our world into a more renewable energy dependent society is the most advantageous and likely method for preserving our dwindling fossil fuel supply while also protecting the world that we call home.
Money makes the world go round, this could be true from an economical point of view but from the environmental aspect money is being fed into the wrong areas and screeching the world to a halt. The world should be putting plans into action at this stage in the earths rescue. Instead scientists are still trying to ‘understand’ what is going on. This is just taking up more and more time, leaving the earth to rot as they do their ‘research.’
...pare to 2013 fiscal budget. Even though I said earlier that recession requires a lower budget right, in this case we see an increase of funds. But it makes us wonder where the funds come from? The answer is simple that makes me laugh. Deep CUTS to other programs that are where we can get the extra money for extra funding for other programs. Without a doubt in my mind that the world we live in is endanger because of environment issues and global warming. Increase in the sanitation means more workers, better environment and clean air for all of us. In the department of Sanitation report produce by the New York City, it also presented me information about budget cuts (5.9 million) to other programs. Not to convince anyone to do anything all, of this is to provide a clear image of how moneys is handle and actions needs to be taken in order to get things done
The Green movement began in the Western World during the 1970’s around the time of the Vietnam War. The green movement is a social movement regarding concerns for environmental conservation and improvements to the current health of the environment. The Green movement also promotes the conservation, restoration, and the overall improvement of our environment. Many people disagree with the green movement and its values because they don’t see the immediate benefits from them. However, supporting the green movement by recycling, researching alternative energy sources, and mandating eco-friendly laws will lead to a better, greener, country.
