Data Investigation
Having allocated data of students from a school given a fabricated
name, I will use this data to follow up a line of enquiry on.
From the data that I have there are 1200 students in the school, where
599 are boys and 601 are girls.
Below is a chart showing how many girls and boys there are in each
year group.

I also have details about each student about the following things:
Name, Age, Year Group, IQ, Weight, Height, Hair colour, Eye colour,
Distance from home to school, Usual method of travel to school, Number
of brothers and sisters, Key stage 2 results in English, Mathematics
and science.
This information indicates that I have (1200 x 14 =) 16800 datum
points from which I can follow up a line of enquiry on.
For my statistical investigation I will be investigating the
relationship between the IQ and key stage 2 results.
Due to the issue of having different amount of students in each year,
I am going to use a stratified sample.
I already know that I have 1200 students altogether in the school, so
using this and the amount of students in each year group, I will work
out my stratified sample of 4%; because 1200 is a large amount of
students to investigate with.
