Aside from watching short videos there are also full length recordings of events such as the precidential debate between Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney. Many people were not able to view the debates on tv for wahtever reason, and so there where various videos uploaded on YouYube. New technology has fuelled the expansion with the growth of phone apps, social media formats, smartphones able to capture video and upload instantly onto the web. The public is now recording, documenting, sharing and viewing events as they happen, often before professional journalist or reporters. Technology allows people to view major events in real time anywhere in the world, creating a ‘global village’ in which everyone is connected (McLuhan 1964; cited in Giddens 2013). However, the mass medias of television, radio and newspapers both in print and online, continue to be the mediums the public accesses the news and events on a local, national and international
It has changed our lifestyle to a greater extent. Just imagine of the older times, when one had to send a message by a mailing letter. It took a long time to reach the message. And just remember about the high calling rates of long distance calls before social media. But with the emergence of social media technology, one can convey the information to the any part of the world within fraction of seconds. It is like a magic band full of miracles. Another benefit of the social media is that anybody can express himself online. Anybody can make their own videos of their talents and extra abilities and post online and get popularity. For example, a 13 year old Compton skateboarder, Steven Fernandez became famous by just putting his skating board stunts videos online on youtube. This helps him to get corporate sponsorship and made him a walking billboard. Now he is making good money (Generation Like). Thus we can say that social media helps a lot to display one’s talent to the whole

This website has thousands of videos that anyone with access to the it and internet can view. In the same article, they explain that Youtube has been the birthplace of some celebrities in the music, fashion, and video game scenes. (How YouTube changed the world). Because of how easy it is for a person to watch these videos and share them from all across the world, American culture, and other cultures can be spread to each other. Television advertising can also reach a large audience, including the market of the competition.
With the expansion of digitalization, popular trends emerged with media outlets, such as YouTube. Since surfacing in 2005, YouTube is one of the most visited websites behind Google and Facebook (Cayari, 2011). As Newkirk & Forker (2007) notes, it was voted “invention of the year in 2006” by Time magazine. YouTube is free to the public sphere to publish media with few regulations. This space contains media in the form of music, advertisements, videos, lectures, tutorials, and personal video blogs. People utilize YouTube for personal, professional, and educational purposes. As Benkler notes, these tools enable the public sphere and “relies on the information and cultural production activity of emerging nonmarket actors” (2006, p. 6). The rate of communication is outstanding as it “reaches more US adults ages 18-34 than any cable network” (YouTube, 2014). Part of the appeal is the limited regulations and the freedom of speech that is globally accessible. As Benkler states “social production is a fact, not a fad. It is a critical long term shift caused by the Internet” (2005). YouTube remains successful because it offers a platform to inspire, educate, and empower its users.
According to Ahmed & Talaat (2009), advertising is a way to introduce new products or new idea to mass audiences. They suggested that advertisement is an influential way in communicating to public about corporate branding and product positioning as it can change people perception and attitude towards the brand and the company.
According to a leading article about social media, YouTube is another way to share videos with fans and supporters of a team or organization. It can also advertise a player’s talents and abilities to athletic coaches or employers of top sports agencies and companies (Ressler). For instance, some high school athletes use social networks to highlight their ath...
An article called “Watching Vlogs like the SHAYTARDS?”, written on why people watch vlog states that there are a few reasons, for personal entertainment or because people are lonely and unhappy. Video marketing is the use of videos to market or promote a brand, service or product. A video is a more vivid, lively and memorable presentation of the marketing message, which results in enhanced search engine ranking, more conversions and click through rates, and better sales. Depending on their marketing plans and goals, companies can use live event videos, customer testimonials, explainer videos, how-to videos, entertainment (viral) videos and corporate training videos, among others, to pass their brand messages more persuasively, briefly and effectively. Today, online video marketing has become popular because it is cheaper to implement and the videos can be distributed on channels like YouTube with amazing ease.
In fact, most media content are no longer merely artistic and informational – they are meant to engage the masses thus to exert profound influence not only on individual development but also on social advancement. No one can deny that in the contemporary world, media, composed of dynamic and various platforms, is widely perceived to be the predominant means of communication. Noticeably, the term media is first used with the advent of newspaper and magazines; yet with the passage of time, the term is broadened by the inventions of radio, television, video and internet, which are all adapted as forms of media that bring the world closer to us. Indeed, media depends on its wild audience coverage, active public engagement and open, two-way communication to create a highly interactive platform through which “humanity, fully connected, collaboratively build and share a global world”(McLuhan 160).Without doubt, media presents a strong impact upon individual and society in the proc...
