The Tsarnaev brothers carry backpacks to two locations near the finish line on Boylston Street. Tamerlan, the older brother, placed his bomb near the finish line at 2:42 p.m. just seven minutes before the first blast. He placed the backpack so the lid of the pressure cooker faced the crowd to cause the most damage (Nova, 2013). Just four minutes before the first blast, the younger brother, Dzhokhar positioned his device near the Forum restaurant. At 2:50 p.m. the cheers turn to terror as the first blast rocked the crowd near the finish line and 10 seconds later, another blast only a block away in front of the Forum restaurant, devastated this annual event just four hours and ten minutes after the race began (Barrett, Shallwani, & Perez, 2013). After that blast, the injured are everywhere. Eight year old Martin Richard, 29 year old Krystle Campbell and 23 year old Lu Lingzi lost their lives that day, 14 others lost limbs. A total of 264 people were injured from the explosions (Bodden, 2014, p. 21). As the chaos was going on the Tsarnaev brothers calmly, but quickly, leave the scene. They had completed their dirty deed and probably thought they would get away with it. The backpacks they carried contained pressure cooker bombs, a favorite of Islamic extremist (Nova, 2013). These pressure cooker bombs are inexpensive and relatively easy to make using tightly packed gun powder, shrapnel and an ignition device. These devices are commonly detonated using a cell phone, and video footage shows Dzhokhar using his cell phone just 30 seconds before the first device detonates (Nova, 2013). Two boys by the names of Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris walked into Columbine High School around 11:19 A.M. with 99 home-made explosives, a 9mm carbine, a pump shotgun, and a double barrel shotgun. As well as being accompanied by four knives. Both managed to murder thirteen innocent people in total, twelve students and one teacher.
From there, an investigation was conducted and agents found traces of chemicals on McVeigh’s clothing, similar to the ones from the bomb. They learned that McVeigh’s plan was due to the anger over the events at the Waco Siege two years earlier. The bombing investigation was one of the most exhaustive in FBI history; “the Bureau had conducted more than 28,000 interviews, followed some 43,000 investigative leads, amassed three-and-a-half tons of evidence, and reviewed nearly a billion pieces of information.” (FBI.com) The Oklahoma City bombing was “considered the worst and the largest terrorist act ever committed on U.S. soil.”
The Boston Massacre is considered by many historians to be the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The fatal incident happened on March 5 of 1770. The massacre resulted in the death of five colonists. British troops in the Massachusetts Bay Colony were there to stop demonstrations against the Townshend Acts and keep order, but instead they provoked outrage. The British soldiers and citizens brawled in streets and fought in bars. “The citizens viewed the British soldiers as potential oppressors, competitors for jobs, and a treat to social mores'; (Mahin 1). A defiant anti-British fever was lingering among the townspeople.
Terrorist Dzhokhar Tsamaev bombed the Boston Marathon April 15, 2013. Dzhokhar and his brother wanted to defend Islam from the U.S., which conducted the Iraq war and war in Afghanistan, in the view of the brothers, against muslims. A hero among the runners was Dr. Natalie Stavas, a pediatric resident at Boston Children’s, Hospital, whom of which was running toward the finish line when the explosions went off. Being the oldest daughter of a Senior ATF Agent, I have been exposed to domestic terrorism all of my life. My father has investigated thousands of bombings, fires, and explosions for more than twenty years now. Many of these incidents were examples of the terrorism that I speak about. His experiences have taught me countless lessons and informed me of many current events. The information that I have obtained from him is far more valuable than anything that the media could ever possibly convey. Though he is always strictly guarded with the confidences of his profession, he has always provided me with a firsthand knowledge of the impact that domestic terrorism has on the citizens and law enforcement. Through him, I learn the facts of these incidents without the media’s exaggerations. Today I will share with you some of these facts. I will talk to you about the impact that domestic terrorism has on our citizens. These impacts include: the monetary damages that terrorism inflicts, along with the injuries to the victims, the shocking repercussions that are embedded into the minds and souls of the people who come to sort through the rubble to find the survivors and the remaining evidence.
Thought to have been planned around a year in advance, Harris and Klebold intended to blow up Columbine High School and harm as many people as possible. Before arriving at the school, the shooters left two backpacks full of explosives in a field about three miles away from the school. The subsequent explosion was meant to serve as a distraction to police as the events at Columbine unfolded. Once at the school, Harris and Klebold planted propane bombs in the cafeteria and waited in their cars. It is unclear how the bombs were planted without notice. The shooters also set timed car bombs in each of their vehicles and, once they realized the bombs inside the school were not exploding as planned, took their guns and walked to the top of a hill on the school’s campus. Though discovered by police and diffused in the evening, the car bombs were supposed to injure first responders and people that survived the initial bombing.
The Boston Marathon bombings happened on April 15, 2013 when two bombs exploded at 2:49 pm near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The bombers were brothers, Tamerlan & Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who moved to the United States after the father applied for political asylum. The younger Tsarnaev brother said the attacked the Boston Marathon in retaliation for U.S. wars in Muslim countries. The Boston Marathon Bombing Trial is important to American society because it changed the way we looked at acts of terrorism legally, showed that people must effectively pay for their actions, and that we must never let our guard down.
For roughly two months before to the bombing, the plotters had gathered the materials they needed to create this explosive device. Living in New Jersey, the terrorists had rented a storage space where they staged an area to build the device and then loaded the bomb into a rented van...
The town of Boston was a very unstable throughout the 1760’s. This instability quickly turned to violence in the early part of 1770’s. Tension had already begun to in the beginning of the year with various clashes between the British and the colonists. However, in early March the tensions erupted into bloodshed to create what we now know as the Boston Massacre. The occurrence of these events is a fact, however, the interpretations of them has changed over time. The reports are colored by events that are taking place during the period of time in which they were written and by the author’s own prejudices and opinions. However, we can use these imperfections as a way of tracking what is occurring in America and the state of politics.
“The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that is power because they control the minds of the masses.” (Malcolm X). One of the most controversial matters that was on local and international TV news, radio stations, newspapers, magazines and social media sites is the Boston Marathon Bombings which occurred in April 15th last year. There were many opinions about who committed that massacre. Many media outlets were with the thought that the whole crime was staged on the other hand some of them were quick to point the finger at Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his brother Dzhokhar . In this paper I have chosen to put the light on three of the famous media resources which are: the Boston Fox 25 News TV, CNN TV and Press TV (Iranian).
Throughout history, events are sparked by something, which causes emotions to rise and tensions to come to a breaking point. The Boston Massacre was no exception; America was feeling the pressure of the British and was ready to break away from the rule. However, this separation between these two parties would not come without bloodshed on both sides. The British did not feel the American had the right to separate them from under British rule, but the Americans were tired of their taxes and rules being placed upon them and wanted to succeed from their political tyrants. The Boston Massacre would be the vocal point in what would be recognized, as the Revolutionary War in American history and the first place lives would be lost for the cost of liberty. Even though the lives were lost that day, eight British soldiers were mendaciously accused of murder when it was clearly self-defense. People who are placed in a situation where their lives are threatened have the right to defend themselves. History does not have the right to accuse any one event those history may have considered the enemy guilty when they are fighting for their lives.

Three people were killed and hundreds were injured during the bombing. A few days later, they identified the suspects as Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev and in the midst of chasing them two officers died and Dzhokhar ran over his brother on accident. When captured and questioned, Dzhokhar said he was sent from Iraq as a terrorist, then got 30 charges and sentenced to death. Joey Mclntyre said, “Nothing will ever take away the power and resolve and fearlessness of the great city of Boston. We will get through this. It will take time. But we will get through this.” This event and 9/11 made America stronger and raise hate against the Islamic community.
