Since the very beginning it was first established, the Coast Guard was never seen as important to the people for about 200 years. Why is it that they’ve never had notice? How come they do all the dirty work in the ocean and no one seems to care? Well the Coast Guard is the reason why the United States has been protected, so that we can go to bed at night knowing that nothing’s going to happen to us. There are many reasons to why the Coast Guard is so important to society. The U.S. Coast is a huge part of our military and follows certain goals on the ocean to protect us from harm. There are also individuals who are aware of the situations that the Coast Guards are going through and by helping they get involved with some of the minor activities that Coast Guards appreciate. There are many types of Coast Guards around the world that are all following the same goal, to protect the ocean from all illegal activity. Another reason is how the Coast Guard came to be and how it became so important. Finally, how Gunner’s Mate is one of the most important positions in the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is extremely important to us and should be given more credit for what they do for us out in the ocean blue.
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces, one of the seven U.S. uniformed services. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and can be transferred to the Department of the Navy by the President at any time or by Congress during time of war. On February 25, 2002 and to this day, the Coast Guard has been placed under the Department of Homeland Security, reporting directly to the Secretary of this department. The Coast Guard is a very significant part of our society in the U.S. and in many other countries that have Coast Guards. Without them, we would have more criminal activity in our oceans, crossing from country to country, most likely in the U.S. From saving people in the oceans, to stopping people smuggling drugs, every day they are out in the ocean searching for illegal activity that could invade the U.S. and people don’t seem to care at all about this issue. Today, there are civilians participating during this conflict, spreading the awareness of what is happening outside of the mainland. In the end the Coast Guard will do everything in their power to prevent the terrible things that are happening out in the ocean so that we don’t have to.
