The Unnecessary Atomic Bombing of Japan

Hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese citizens died at the

hands of the atomic bomb unleashed by the United States, as told in

John Hersey's novel Hiroshima. Hiroshima retells the devastation through

six survivors who had to experience the horrendous attack, and the

attack's grueling long-term side effects. The United States thought they

were shielding Japan from further damage, but instead they caused horrific

destruction that Japan would face for years and years to come.

The United States began developing the deadly potential atomic

bomb during the war. to destroy its enemies. After completing the

construction of the beyond dangerous weapon. The United States tested

the bomb in a deserted field in Trinity, New Mexico. Brigadier Thomas

F. Farrell was there to witness the test and told everyone about the

bomb: "The effects could well be called unprecedented, magnificent,

beautiful, stupendous, and terrifying. No man-made phenomenon of such

tremendous power had ever occurred before. The lighting beggared

knowing this information, the United States still decided to drop the

States had not dropped the atomic bomb on Japan, Hundreds of

been saved, Including the future generations of Japan.
