Introduction
When we look at the world at a global perspective, we always come to one conclusion: the world is culturally diverse. This is a known fact. What is interesting about this is that many Americans today are not quite up-to-date with the culture of different places. It is quintessential that we, as the generation of the future, keep up with all the hype and learn about cultural diversity piece by piece. And it all starts with Japan, one of the world’s top three leading countries in international business.

Greeting & Language/Dialect
The Meeting
One of the most important things to do when meeting with a Japanese business official is to bow. It may also be one of the toughest things to do. When doing so, have a straight back with hands at each side. If the bow is longer and deeper, the more respectful it is. Bow are often repeated continuously, getting less formal with each iteration. Sometimes a bow and a handshake are combined.
Introducing Yourself
After the bow, it is normal and almost necessary to have a conversation introducing yourself. However, make sure you are not the one to do so. Be very polite Wait to be introduced. It is also important to be very respectful according to their status as well as yours. This conversation is very formal. Avoid putting hands in your pockets because it shows boredom and lack of interest.
To greet the person, use the individual’s name followed by the Japanese word for Mr. or Mr. “San”

Learning Japanese culture can serve as a starting point to understanding the world’s diverse cultures. After we learn Japanese culture, and additional countries’ cultures, we can truly understand the world.
It is our responsibility to understand the culture of other nations including Japan. Only after understanding their culture may we successfully cooperate with these countries in the future in partnership and friendship.
