The cause of autism is unknown .As a fetus grows into an infant the brain grows normally in most cases. In some cases the infants’ brain will develop abnormally. If the brains function or structure is abnormal the child may act different than others. This disorder is called Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There are theories stating that the brain of children with Autism’s brain grows faster and larger than normal children. Autism can also be caused by problems during the delivery of the child as an infant. More possible factor of a child developing autism is metabolic or neurological factors.
Children should have their developmental mile stones check from birth to 36 months of age. If an infant is not developing with the mile stones that are age appropriate the child should be taken to a pediatrician. Children show little signs of being autistic as an infant. A parent will see more signs of a child being autistic between 8 to 10 months old. The child will have communication challenges as well as having difficulties interacting with other children.
