Environmental degradation has begun just after the immense human civilization. In recent decades, it has become a major concern for highly populated and developing country like Bangladesh, which has inadequate natural resources also numerous environmental challenges yet to resolve. For this reason, I am motivated to pursue the Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Concentration in Environmental Engineering) degree in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio. At present, most challenging and innovative areas of research in Civil Engineering includes, water quality and pollution, waste management, soil and groundwater remediation, air and noise pollution in urban areas, and sustainable …show more content…
Versatile and effectual undergraduate curriculum at KUET gave me wide range of knowledge in all core courses of Civil Engineering. Besides my coursework, I became fascinated in research works after close observation of some creative research activities conducted by senior teachers in our department. In my sophomore year, I voluntarily worked with them in a project entitled “Solar desalination using tubular solar still (TSS)”. This work provided me a new stand in my department and in my junior year they wholeheartedly assigned me in a new project on soil erosion mitigation with jute Geotextile aided by vegetation …show more content…
My eventual target is to carry on my profession as a researcher or as an academician in this field. In my country (Bangladesh) there is lack of practices of using Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and consequently untreated effluents from garments, tanneries and pharmaceuticals are intoxicating the surface water sources. To tackle this problem, I need a concrete academic standing with clear understanding in wastewater treatment techniques, which will help me to implement my expertise to lessen intoxication of surface water sources and thereby contribute to the sustainable development of
The occupational study of construction managers has been a great experience for me. I went into the situation expecting to find an average career with a simple day in and day out routine that would only change as much as the location would. What I found could not be more from the opposite. The work is exciting and constantly changing as the job changes. No two jobs are ever the same, and I saw that as I shadowed Ryan at two different job sites. This project took me through the history, training, and a day on the job. It could not have been a better experience, and this project proved that a career in construction management is a real possibility in the future.

When I graduated from McDonough High School, I had everything planned out. I was going to go to a four-year university and study Architectural Engineering. My senior year, my father was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer. We didn't know the extent the tumor had done to his brain or how much longer he had to live. This took a big toll on my mother as well as my three sisters. I continued to focus on my studies graduating with honors.
Human activity can influence the quality of our water in the environment. Sewage is a major problem because billions of people are disposing of waste. Although, there has been an improvement on being able to obtain clean water, yet little has been done on upgrading the global sanitation. Sewage disposal has an immediate effect on people’s environment and leads to water related illnesses such as; diarrhea and cholera.
It is somewhat by accident that I find myself drawn towards the field of Construction Science. I have always enjoyed building with an incorporation of moving parts. When I was young, I started building toy cars, airplanes, dinosaurs, and everything an eight-year-old boy would imagine. It was like striking gold! I could build tracks, and cars with wheels to go on the tracks. I could even build towers with moving parts that reached the living room ceiling. Needless to say this unassuming box of used gadgets fostered a growing excitement towards construction and architecture. As my knowledge of the field grew, so did my curiosity about the assembly and preparation it takes to build useful assets like houses, hotels, even parking garages. I am pursuing a degree in Construction Science, which encompasses not only creating new spheres of urban development, but also a supporting a structure that helps a community grow. After attending Blinn College, I feel the need to expand my knowledge in the field of architecture by attending the highly credited University of Texas A&M.
Water pollution is always one of the major concerns for environmental engineering. Toxic water sources can be a critical problem, it will endanger some species or even the whole eco-system. Also, it might cause various problem of human's health. Water pollution can be caused by different reasons such as acid rain, runoff of fertilizer, industrial wastes etc. Treatment of water is necessary to prevent such pollutants. Engineers have several ways to measure the quality of water
Yes, Finally I am happy to say that I am few steps away from my destination which has been a very long pursuit of my life. I am proud and happy to say that I have dedicated my entire career till now to the field of metallurgy especially in Welding Technology and wishing to further my knowledge in Welding Engineering. With these few words I would proudly recognize myself as RAMANA MURALI SRINIVASAN with a hope and determination that one day I will prove to be an asset to this entire universe.
Since the prehistoric time, rive is the main attractive thing for the people for its charming beauty and waste disposal facility, for this reasons the human settlement, industries and the city was built near the river course. The most intensive interactions between human beings and the environment take place in cities and their peripheries (Raihan and Kaiser, 2012). The ever increasing population increases the pressure on land and makes the demand of land which results people to be influenced to break the law of encroachment of the river and thus makes the word “Encroachment’’ at second stage of eye sore then pollution. Dhaka is expanding apace, at an average rate of 4.24% per year and is projected to be the third largest megacity in the world by the year 2020 (Dewan and Yamaguchi, 2009).Encroachment and Pollution make the mega city Dhaka poisonous, and these are the reciprocal practice of Dhaka city which make the mega city unloving. The mighty river of Dhaka, the Buriganga that serves Dhaka city by conveying its waste and the drainage system
I have completed Bsc (Hons) Construction management at the University of West London, and I would now like to further my career by studying MSC Project enterprise and management at UCL. I have made this decision after understanding that this course will enable me to develop a broad understating of construction management of large and complex projects and increase my commercial awareness of these projects. I also expect this course to be taught with both academic rigour and place consistent emphasis on practical application of what I learn to construction environment. After working in construction for industry for almost 2 years, and studying a bachelor’s degree I feel I am more than capable of completing Msc Project Entriprise with success as I have already experienced the rigors & dynamics of university education.
An education is best valued when it is used to serve one’s community at a larger aspect- this belief has been imprinted in my judgment from the commencement of my undergraduate study. This persuasion and a natural aptitude for energy science and mathematics induced me that petroleum engineering is the most fitting career for me and developed a sense in my mind that higher study is mandatory to be competent in this field. I desire a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering followed by a PhD not only because it is the most fulfilling way to exercise my natural talent as a scholar but also it will give me the opportunity to serve my country as she has paucity of researchers in this discipline.
There is an appropriate time for everything, sometimes one has to create it or has to wait for it. I am an apostle of this dictum and it is my appetite for amelioration which has led me to the decision of pursuing masters, following the completion of under graduation. My urge to pursue masters kindled in the junior year of my college when I had hit upon the word Industrial Engineering and every day since then my staunch desire for this field has increased exponentially.
Water and Waste Management Engineering addresses water and waste water treatment, surface and ground water pollution and control, solid and hazardous waste management, contaminant transport and behaviour in the environment. Support areas involving aquatic chemistry, computer modeling, simulation and laboratory experimentation as examples are also stressed.
Throughout my lifetime, I have never had to think very much about the working world and everything that went with it. All through high school I took classes I liked or thought would be interesting to me, but never thought that all of those classes were preparing me for what was to come. Before I knew it, it was time to go to college. The four years of high school had flown by and now it was time to choose a major for college. I had never given much thought as to what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The only real occupations that I had really gotten to experience were teaching, the jobs that my parents had, and others such as doctors, dentist, most of the occupations that everyone sees while they are growing up. When I finally decided on my major, I chose engineering, but I didn’t know if I would like it or not. The only prior knowledge I had about it was the fact that my grandfather was an electrical and chemical engineer, and that my parents and teachers said that I would be good at engineering. Recently I have been interested in civil engineering, but what does one do with such a degree? What opportunities are available to a person with a degree in civil engineering on the job market? The broad curriculum that covers many different fields of engineering make civil engineering a major that allows a person to work in nearly any field they wish.
The career the I'm interest me the most is Civil Engineering. Civil engineering is designing and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities. May work on roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, water and sewage systems, or waste disposal units. May be architectural, structural, traffic, ocean, geo-technical or other kind of engineer. I chose this career because I would see my mom's side of the family they all are engineers and I really like what they do I like to design. Maintain and that’s something I would really enjoy doing as a career not a job.
Sustainable development can solve problems of environmental damage, or in other words, pollution. For example, water pollution is severe nowadays. Waste water was continually discharged from factories, with poisonous chemicals running with it. Considering the aim of sustainable development, we can come upon some ideas to deal with the problem. First, sewage system should be improved during the development so that drinking water can gain more purity. Furthermore, rain water can be separated from industrial and domestic water, it should go through another system so that people can harness it more effectively and properly. The emission of waste water, which contains organophosphorus pesticide, should also be restricted, for they pollute water heavily and harm not only fish and aquatic animals but also people use the polluted water. Air pollution caused by over urbanization are among the most severe problems...
