States with the highest rates of suicide
1. People in these states have less access to mental health services as those states with the lowest rates of suicide. With less access to these kinds of services, more people with mental health disorders are left untreated. 25-50% of bipolar people attempt suicide at least once. If there were more mental health services, then people could get an early diagnosis and get treatment before it is too late.

2. States where there is more access to guns increases the rate of suicide dramatically. In states with higher accessibility to guns, the number of suicides increases tremendously. 4. The states with more Native Americans have higher rates of suicide. This may be because there is not enough Medicare and Medicaid assistance for them. These government programs were not as available to ...

5. Higher education decreases the risk of suicide. Having a higher education level tend to stigmatize mental illness less and more tolerant of diversity regarding race, religion, and sexual orientation. This will make it easier for people to get help before it is too late.

6. States with less men have lower suicide rates. Men die by suicide four times as much as women. The states with lower suicide rates have more women and men. Also, states that have less white males have lower suicide rates. This is because white middle aged men have the highest rate of suicide.

7. States with lower altitudes have lower rates of suicide. This is because there is no hypoxia, and there is enough oxygen in the air. This helps prevent the environmental factors associated that cause mood disorders.
