There are many militaries throughout the world but the US Military is seen as the most professional and capable military in the world. We are perceived this way due to our rules and regulations that have branched from our fundamental principles and doctrine. Uniformity is one of our leading regulations in the military. Uniformity is what makes the military have a professional image. It is the basis of our instructions and regulations concerning the dress and appearance of our military personnel. Recently however, the Pentagon has decided that it is more important to accommodate certain groups of people then to have a professional and uniform military. On January 22nd 2014 the Pentagon passed a new policy that is easing up on the existing regulations by allowing beards, turbans, headscarf’s, tattoos and piercings of religious nature to be worn while in uniform (Pellerin, 2014). This new policy has started a heated debate about whether this is a good idea or not. I myself believe that this policy should not be allowed because it is undermining basic military values, lowering our standards on regulations, and it is a start to a new undesirable military force.
The military was built on long standing values and customs and courtesies such as saluting, being willing to die for your country, professionalism, and respecting the uniform that you wear by wearing it proudly. All service members are proud of their uniform and what it stands for, but many people don’t know what a uniform is. As times change for the types of warfare, also does the transportation, the armor, as well as the weaponry. From the caveman era with rocks wrapped with veins around a stick followed by the renaissance era with archers and swords. Then came the conquest of the Americas with single-round guns and light clothing, now today with automatic multi-round rifles and bulletproof armor. Some wonder what is next in the development of military technology such as weaponry and armor. Marvel’s Iron Man takes a much detailed look from the government, after the first movie as Tony Stark (Main Character in the comic and in the movies) creates a suit that gives him superhuman abilities, bulletproof metal, health monitoring system, the ability to fly, and many other things. Many fans of the Iron Man trilogy dream of the day when science fiction becomes reality. Officials from U.S. Special Operation Command issued a formal request to researchers to help them build this suit the military is calling the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS). As the Army prepares for future wars, they want to research the Iron Man suit and develop a working suit by 2018. Even though the cost of building an Iron Man suit is too expensive, but the armor would help protect soldiers from the serious injuries of war by the medical/technological advancements, the abilities it gives to the operator, also it would change warfare.
Finally, the third change involves the utility uniform itself, also known as “cammies”, giving it a complete makeover. The current cammie design for all branches of the Armed Forces is over twenty years old. The textile industry has made many advances in the production of clothing providing more comfort and durability. Revolutionary advances within the clothing industry, Velcro and zippers, are being tested on the new cammie uniform.
When in the Army or in any other branch of the military, the soldiers are required to wear a uniform. Most soldiers in the Army will wear the Army Combat Uniform, or ACU, on a daily basis.

In this article, there is a deliberation of the first amendment in context with dress codes for teachers. Kiracofe explains that codes back in 1901 were much stricter than today’s dress codes. Males could only wear suspenders and a suit coat, and women were required to wear two petticoats and dresses two inches above the ankle. Then the author addresses dress codes in regards to religion explaining how some world religions require clothing to cover every inch of their body. Kiracofe tells the readers how the First Amendment contains two religion clauses, the first The Establishment Clause and the second being The Free Exercise Clause. The author goes on to explain that employers can deny religious dress to employees if the attire would threaten the health of employees or the employer. Also, if an employee is required by religious beliefs to wear a skirt, the manufacturing company could be required the female worker to wear pants. So to avoid this in my opinion I think all students should wear the uniform because it help prevent gangs from forming on campus , Encourage discipline , help students resist peer pressure to buy trendy clothes , help identify intruders in the school , diminish economic and social barriers between students and increase a sense of belonging and school pride and Improve attendance. So people should come together to make school a more focused on school and work place and not letting students get distracted by other things such as what they’ll wear that day or what will they say if I wear this by making school uniforms mandatory.
Throughout the military and the Army there many different regulations and rules to live by also known as custom courtesies that every soldier must follow in order to show the proper respect order and discipline as they then move on with their daily lives. Custom courtesies are put into place to give the proper respect for noncommissioned officers and the officers placed above them.AR 600 – 25 customs and courtesies is considered to many to be the foundation pillars of military life and major fundamentals to the methods that the Army conducts its business. Some of these fundamentals being as old as the Army itself with many of them coming from past traditions such as the Army values that we base most of what we do on. Many of these traditions having been established due to past military history and regulations that are being formed today in different ways to help soldiers to better understand how the way Army wants them to be acting in a particular manner over a long period of time. These custom and courtesies not only form the way a soldier acts upon his or her professional life but also his or her social life as a way of maintaining discipline. Customs is a means of doing something that has been done over a long period of time by select few for a large group of many. As a courtesy is a form of polite behavior and excellent manners given from one person to another session is saluting or even holding a door for someone. Even when our custom and courtesies are seemed to be strange by civilians is what sets a soldier and a civilian a part on more levels than one. As most of these means of acting are not found in civilian life as it does not require special behavior and maintain a certain level respect and professionalism.

The different styles of authority uniform can contribute to the way one might respond to these figures. Persuasion toward authority can vary depending on location and how close do uniforms resemble police officers. Different influences can also view the characteristics-color, style and fit of uniforms and negative make assumptions because of recent events. No Uniforms James fast steeped as he was going to his bus stop, he tried to look normal but also tried to avoid bullies that came to the bus stop, every morning when his bus arrives. He had a green plaid vest, white dress shirt with a red tie. That’s all he could wear all day every day, he went to a strict, and very limited school. As he arrived to the bus he was a second too late and the bullies came around the corner and made fun of his uniform and threw eggs at him as he scurried to the bus. Lots of schools require uniform, and I don’t think my school or any other schools should wear uniform.

A uniform is a standard set of clothes that is worn by a group of people. These people may be members of an organization or a group of people having the same ideas. There are thousands of kinds of uniforms in the world worn by people, such as police officers, firefighters, doctors, lawyers, security guards, and even fast-food restaurant workers. School uniforms are a controversial issue in schools today. Many schools have already adopted a policy mandating school uniforms, while many more are still considering the change. School uniforms create an atmosphere of equality in which the students are able to achieve to their best, while attaining the most out of their education. School uniforms should be mandatory to unite the school community as one, to instil discipline among the student body, and to eliminate distractions that will help students focus more, which in turn will help our society.
