Recognize the Importance
In social work, a social worker has to come to the client’s level and start from there. The client does not have to come to the social workers level. In order for this to happen the social worker has to know the importance of culture, race, gender, sexual, diversity and other forms of diversity to make the best decision for choosing a type of intervention. Understanding the client’s culture, race, gender, sexual diversity and other form of diversity is important because they affect each person differently. An example, Roberto is Latino and in their culture they believe in machomism, so this is something his social worker needs to know when addressing Roberto or someone of the Latino culture. Hispanic women bring machomism from their countries of origin, which are dictated by the belief in male superiority and dominance, popularized as machismo, and legitimated through patriarchal social systems (Mayo & Resnick, 1996). This impacts the client 's race, gender, diversity and culture. Knowing the client 's race, gender, sexual diversity and other diversity’s can be beneficial to the social worker because it allows them to have at least some information to analyze before picking an intervention that’s beneficial to the client. If a social worker didn’t know these things then it 's unlikely that the social worker will pick the best intervention for the client depending on the person and several other factors it may or may not work.
Another example is if a social worker didn’t want to gather the client information and instead proceed with the case, depending on how old the client looks the social worker might decide to use the child maltreatment intervention. However if the client is twenty-seven years old, b...

...h Roberto after and evidence-based intervention has been implemented I would wait two weeks to follow up with him. The first thing I would do upon contacting him is to try and schedule an appointment to meet at the office. Some social workers like to conduct a follow up over the phone (Which I have seen at my internship) but I believe it would be more beneficial to meet in person. At the beginning of the interview, I would ask how he was doing and monitor his body language a person body language can display a lot about their thoughts and actions. Overall I would make sure that the intervention worked and his condition has improved and then I would go over the confidentiality policy so he can be assured that none of his information would be leaked from me. Last but not least I would tell him to feel free to contact me if he needs any further assistance with anything.
