“At six to eight hours a day, five days a week, you as a teacher are poised to become one of the most influential people in your students’ life.” teach.com. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning. With that in mind, it is up to me as the teacher to find a way to teach them. I understand that not all students will learn in the same way, at the same speed, or to the same level understanding. Garrison states, “Often we fall into the trap of creating negative interdependence, where one’s success is built upon the other’s failure, or at least lack of success. But learning teamwork is a life skill, and with that in mind, we want to allow opportunities where the students learn to work as a team.” Cooperative learning is an asset to any classroom. I believe that the classroom is like an ecosystem. There are many parts that need to work both alone and as a whole in order for it to excel and prosper. The main aspects of this ecosystem are environment, the instruction, the teacher, and the students.
The environment is like the sun of this ecosystem. It warms the earth, gives the plants its energy, and provides light for all of its inhabitants. It serves no value without someone or something that depends on it. The environment is of course the general features of the classroom but most importantly it is the overall feeling in the classroom.
Another important aspect of the environment is outside of the classroom and includes other school communities, the students ' families, and the outside community. It is very important to me that my students, their parents, other teachers, administrators, and people in the community can depend on me. I want them to know that I am someone they can easily approach, someone who cares, s...

...y time at my placements, I noticed the students who are frequently absent seem to fall farther and farther behind. The students who don’t ask questions normally do not understand. The students who do not pay attention, not only distract others, but also fail to catch the concept being taught. I believe that we as teachers must do everything possible to support and encourage these students.
This ecosystem like all others must be able to depend on each other every day. The many parts need to be able to work both alone and as a whole to excel and prosper. I will use the knowledge I gained from my professors, my mentors, and my students to be the best teacher, have the finest students, create the greatest instruction, and have the best learning environment possible. My classroom will be a community that will be able to depend on each other and we will thrive together!
