Autism Treatments
Autism is a disorder that develops in the first three years of life. If affects the brain's development and impairs communication and social skills. The severity of the disorder is characterized on a very large spectrum that depends on the individual. Autism causes abnormalities in the brain and the cause of these abnormalities are unknown. This makes it difficult to treat or find a cure. There are many different types of treatments mostly including a wide variety of therapy and different tools and methods to be used in that therapy. To treat autism, some even go on special diets, take vitamin supplements, bond with animals, and even look to spiritual healing. The accuracy of each method depends on the individual's autism and no one treatment can fix everything and everyone.
There is no known cause to the mental disorder autism, so treating it is a difficult task. With many methods and treatments, guardians have to test what works for their autistic child. The affect of the treatment depends on the individual and no one method ever works the same for every autistic child. There is such a large variety of therapy that tackle different ways of helping the child. They all help with communication and behavior skills that have been negatively affected in the brain. The basis of all therapy sessions are professional specialists and trained therapists breaking down easy tasks so the brain can easily learn them. Along with the many therapy approaches, people also turn to vitamin supplements, prescribed medicines, interactions with animals, and spiritual healing. Every case of autism is different, so treatment for each individual demands to be different.

As the research shows, there are numerous ways to find treatments for autism. It is also important to keep up with the medical research because they seem to be finding and approving new treatments quite often. The most important part is finding out what is best for the individual and going from there.

Autism is a neurological developmental disability that affects a person’s behavior and communication skills (AutismResearchNetwork.org). Commonly, those with Autism are diagnosed very early in childhood. Autism is the fastest- growing developmental disability known, with its prevalence appearing in 1 out of every 68 births (www.autismspeaks.org). The autism spectrum is so large, ranging from mild to severe symptoms, that no two people diagnosed are alike. With autism being the most common disorder among the human race (www.webmd.com), doctors and science, have come together to improve the technology in helping those with autism in many ways. New advancements have been developed to diagnose autism earlier, help create more successful treatments, and to help better an educational plan for people with autism. There are many theories but no known single cause for autism. There are also many treatments but no known cure for autism. In my paper, I am going to review the technology aspect into this disorder. Technology has enhanced different treatments, enabled earlier diagnoses, and furthered education levels in those with autism. The focus of my report will be on these three categories; diagnoses, treatments and education.
As the prevalence of Autism continues to grow rapidly, it is proven fact that Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the United States. “On March 27, 2014, this surveillance study identified one in sixty-eight children (one in forty-two boys and one in one-hundred eighty-nine girls) as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).” (DSM-IV, 2000). Eight-hundred thousand people younger than eighteen years are on record as having Autism Spectrum Disorder in the United States. Most children display abnormalities within the first year of life; although most are diagnosed with Autism between the ages of two and three. Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have Autism. However, females with the disorder are more feasible to exhibit serious mental retardation. There are “approximately seventy-five percent of children with Autism are mentally handicapped; meaning their IQ ranges from thirty-five to fifty. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV, 2000) research suggests that only a small percentage of individuals with Autistic Disorder go on as adults to live and work independently.” ( DSM-IV, 2000)

Autism has been misjudged for many years and some people have gone without treatment and were locked up in mental hospitals for the rest of their lives due to the ignorance of the public... The main problem is that there has not been any productive treatment available to help them in the past. In conclusion Autism is a disability with many different levels .Autism affects different people in different from high functioning to low functioning. All Autistic people just want to be treated as true real people. There is no cure or treatment for autism but the best cure is the cure of love. Showing them that they are equal real people and treating them as such. Having autism just means you learn different or develop slower but it doesn’t make you unequal. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is known as a neurodevelopmental disorder that is capable of weakening communication, behavior and socialization. Certain types of autism might not be identified until three years of life and it happens more frequently in boys compared to girls. Autism is not curable but it can be controlled using certain type of treatments as there is no specific treatment for autism. The question arises for these articles are if the treatment used was effective? There are many types of treatments that are able to control autism and the types of treatments used in these articles were behavioral involvement which is learning system based on interference approach. This will help to lessen and uphold the target’s behavior. Complementary and alternative medicine and special diets are treatments used in autism as CAM and special diets will be able to maintain autism. Communication interventions are very useful for autism and one of the main communication treatments is speech therapy. It maintains the expressive and receptive communication of children mainly it maintains the expression and enhances symbol learning. Educational therapy plays a role in treating children with autism as it supports children through the condition of visual details.
