As an aspiring HR professional it is so important to understand the way performance management, training, development and the HR department play a strategic role in assisting organizations with facilitating the programs and activities to achieving the business objectives and revenue outcomes. Implementation of these strategic programs and activities provide organizations to increase productivity and competitive advantages. One of the most important strategies to increase performance within an organization is by personalizing each employee 's performance review with understand how they contribute to the success of the business and its outcomes.
For an organization to successfully recover their investments with each hired employee, a number of factors need to be implemented at the organizational level.
One of them being an continuous performance management process. This process involves several different aspects that are all linked closely together. The starting point of the process should be with establishing clear goals that are created from the organization 's business objectives. This will assist the employees with understanding how their goals are directly aligned with the department 's revenue outcomes. This will also ensure accountability for their behaviour and results. The best way for managers to complete this process is by implementing the SMART goals on each performance review. SMART refers to the goals need to be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and have a specific deadline for completion. (SAKS, p. 7)

Once you have identified all the gaps that the employee is experiencing, your next step would be to introduce specific training or development programs to motivate the employee to improve on their performance.
In summary, a successful implementation of a continuous performance management process within an organization will improve employees performance which will then increase the business objective outcomes and revenue. This process allows the management and employees to gain a better understanding of what is expected as well as how their role is specifically is linked to the business revenue outcome. Overall monitoring the success of the performance management process improves employee satisfaction and retention.
