In the beginning his guilt is almost too strong to bear, but by the end he only cares about being the king. Lady Macbeth is almost as important to the story as her husband. She seems heartless at first, but her guilt takes over in time. The main antagonist to Macbeth is probably Malcolm. Malcolm is the rightful heir to the throne and leads the army that takes Scotland back. Macduff plays a small role until the end, but he is important because he defeats Macbeth in battle.
The story is a tragedy of a Scottish nobleman and war hero named Macbeth. In the beginning, Scotland is at war with Norway, and the battle is won by Scotland against all odds because of the brave Macbeth. As Macbeth and his friend Banquo, another nobleman, ride from the battlefield, they encounter three witches. The witches claim that Macbeth, who is already the Thane of Glamis, will also become the Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland, and Banquo will not be king but will father future generations of kings. The witches disappear just before two more noblemen arrive and inform Macbeth that he has become the Thane of Cawdor. At King Duncan's palace, Macbeth is informed that Malcolm, the son of Duncan, will be king when the time comes. At Macbeth's castle, his wife reads a letter from him telling about the witches' prophecies just before being informed that Duncan is coming to the castle that night. After Duncan has fallen asleep, Lady Macbeth drugs his guards and convinces her husband to kill him by calling him a coward. In the morning, Macduff, another nobleman, finds the king dead and the guards covered in blood. Macbeth immediately kills the guards and Duncan's two sons flee the country out of fear, which causes suspicion to first fall on them. With the king's sons gone, Macbeth becomes the king. Banquo is suspicious of Macbeth, but says nothing. Macbeth, feeling threaten by Banquo because of the witches' prophecy, hires three men to kill Banquo and his son Fleance, but Fleance escapes. Macbeth invites other noblemen of Scotland to the palace for dinner, and while they are at the table he sees Banquo's ghost and has a fit.

In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth is a classic example of a tragic hero who is constantly struggling with his fate. At first, he does not realize to earn this title what he must do, but when he realizes he is taken aback. His bewilderment prefigures his perpetual struggle with his fate. Macbeth also is excessively ambitious which constantly affects him throughout the play. He is too determined to become king and will kill anyone to ensure that this will transpire. What would the world be like if no one felt guilt? If no one ever caught caught for their crimes? In Shakespeare's novel, Macbeth, the main characters commit crimes driven by their ambition. After committing the first crime Macbeth, the main antagonist is overwhelmed with guilt. His wife, Lady Macbeth plotted the first crime and was the main force pushing Macbeth to kill. William Shakespeare's Macbeth At the beginning of the play, Macbeth writes to his wife as 'my dearest partner of greatness'. How does their relationship change during the play? Act 1, Scene 5 is where we first see Lady Macbeth. She is reading a letter written by Macbeth informing her of his success in battle and, more importantly, of his encounter with the witches.
William Shakespeare's Macbeth Shakespeare first showed Macbeth in the court of a newly crowned King James the First. Some people would argue that in places this was written as a piece of flattery for James the first. James was meant to be a descendant of Banquos' and therefore Shakespeare shows Banquo to be a valiant and heroic character throughout the play. However, Shakespeare had to be careful what he said in the play, as he didn't want to upset the King. This play could be written as a piece of propaganda or a warning to anybody who went against the King.
What if none of the evil decisions made in the play Macbeth, are actually Macbeth’s fault? There are also many other forces at work, meddling with Macbeth and influencing him to change into a cold and cruel man who kills without a second thought. Would characters such as Banquo and Duncan have been murdered if perhaps fate did not direct their destinies, or if Lady Macbeth had not manipulated Macbeth, or even if the three witches had not shown Macbeth their prophecies and apparitions? Macbeth is valiant, noble, and a truly decent person whose destiny is unfortunately set in stone and whose life is a tumultuous road with an impending doom. His cold and calculating wife controls Macbeth through manipulations and evil ideas. Additionally, Macbeth encounters three weird sisters who ambiguously give Macbeth false hopes and cloak the whole truth, leading to his over confidence and greed. In Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth, Macbeth is doomed by the influence and manipulation of external forces as opposed to internal forces, consequently leading him to make atrocious/dastardly decisions and causing his ultimate demise as seen through the inevitable forces of fate, Lady Macbeth, and the witches.

Seeking for greater power, Macbeth murders Duncan who is the king at that time, which caused a great pain for the kingdom. Duncan is a great king, but just not a so good human reader. He has never been aware of Macbeth. He never have a thought that Macbeth might be a danger, who is willing to kill him for the throne. On the other hand, Macbeth does not accept to be just a general for the rest of his life. He wants a greater power, higher position than he is having at the time. Because of the suggests from the trio witches: “ All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!/ All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!”(1.2.49-50), Macbeth has the thinking about killing the king to take his throne. By calling Macbeth the Thane of Cawdor, they give Macbeth the thought that being a king is his fate. On the night Macbeth is planning to murder Duncan, the Old Man see many strange events: “And Duncan’s horses (a thing most strange and certain),/ Beauteous and swift, the minions of their race, /Turned wild in nature, broke their stalls, flung out/ Contending ‘gainst obedience, as they would/ Make war with mankind” (2.4.14-18). It creates a scary feeling in the kingdom, and means something bad will happen to the kingdom.
William Shakespeare's Macbeth In William Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth, there is no doubt that the “dead butcher and his fiend like queen” (V, 9, 36) are both villainous; however they are villainous to varying degrees. His noble characteristic slowly downgraded to a violent and cruel individual as the story progresses.
