It’s a beautiful day outside the suns out, birds are chirping, and kids are out to play; however, you are under an abnormal amount of stress so in order to “reduce” stress you pull out a cigarette and begin to smoke. Instantly your body receives a sense of relief and your troubles seem to float away with the smoke, however this is hardly the case. That cigarette smoke you are inhaling has the ability to give you a sense of stress relief because of one of its most important ingredients Nicotine. Nicotine is a naturally occurring organic compound, referred to as an alkaloid, found in the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum and is know to be one of the most addictive alkaloids next to morphine.
Nicotiana tabacum belongs to the Solanaceae family, Nicotiana genus, and N. tabacum species. Tobacco’s earliest uses were for religious purposes, as an entheogen, several medical applications, and most importantly trade by the Native Americans who lived throughout the America’s in the 16rh century. Upon the arrival of Christopher Columbus and other Western Europeans tobacco was exported and made its way to several different countries. While tobacco is not considered one of the hardest crops to grow there are several intermediary steps that need to take place for commercial use including: the initial planting of seeds inside during germination, to protect them from flea beetles, then transplanted back into the grown once the shoots pass around 7 inches, and from this point left to grow until completion. Also there is an increase in nicotine addictions found in E cigarettes then in traditional cigarettes because instead of you obtaining the natural amount of nicotine found in tobacco leaves E cigarettes operate of a pure nicotine compound mixed with several other chemicals. However, although there are some negatives associated with the “new” E cigarettes it now being proven that it is a health way to help smokers quit smoking. The E cigarette is not made to be a long-term alternative to smoking but when used correctly can help drastically reduce the risk of traditional cigarettes.
