According to WHO, "each year 6 million people die due to tobacco related illnesses. If current trends continue, it is projected that by 2030, tobacco will be responsible for more than 8 million deaths each year and 80% of these premature deaths will be among people living in low- and middle-income countries.” Tobacco advertising is a worldwide marketing campaign that displays bright and colorful images that appeal towards teens and young adults. These images portray false ideal of masculinity, youth, and freedom. The prohibitions of tobacco advertising should be enforced by the government in order to prevent tobacco industries from targeting undeveloped countries with poor education, reduce tobacco related illnesses,

By limiting the appeal of tobacco packages, the health of third world countries can improve and reduce the amount of new consumer. Some countries has enforced laws that requires tobacco companies to inform their consumer about the inimical effect of their product. In Thailand, “the law requires graphic health warnings on cigarettes, occupying 85 percent of the top of the front and back principal display areas. Health warnings also are required on loose tobacco (which is often blended and chewed)” (Renske Spijkerman). Furthermore, all forms of domestic and cross-border tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship are prohibited in Russia. Additionally, the Russian government implemented regulations requiring health warnings on 30 percent of the front and 50 percent of the back of the pack. These health warnings must apprise the consumer about the misleading descriptors of "light" and "low-tar" brands. Despite all of the attempts to regulate and limit the advertisement of tobacco, the affects it has still persist in third world countries. “Nearly 80% of the more than 1 billion smokers worldwide live in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of tobacco-related illness and death is heaviest. Tobacco users who die prematurely deprive their families of income, raise the cost of health care and hinder economic development”
Tobacco companies started making collection cards, with photographs of models and baseball players, in cigarette packages to encourage new smokers. In 1964, the United States Surgeon General released a report stating that cigarette smoking was causing health hazards. As to American people that abused of cigarettes thought that consuming it wouldn’t cause any harm even when medical statistics were coming out to light. Smoking cigarettes has been part of American Culture for centuries and no body is about to stop this consumption because of several statistics. Many people that knew about this controversy didn’t know a way to stop it, only that it would continue to be part of an american’s life.
Once the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Margaret Chan said “tobacco is the only industry that produces products to make huge profits and at the same time damage the health and kill their consumers.” Tobacco is one of the main addictions that lead to millions of deaths, and hence, it is still not banned, but companies make millions of dollars by manufacturing cigarettes. Many people believe that graphic warnings would be one of the ways to reduce the number of people smoking, and prevent from diseases such as cancer, or lung problems. However, tobacco industries oppose to this movement because it is effecting their profits and reputation. This is a very egoistic perspective because they use the population to become a profitable company while millions of people suffer on that. People has been fighting with this issue since century where graphic warnings have not been fully accepted by the government. Therefore, Food and Drug Administration intentions are to put 6 graphic pictures showing effects of smoking such as, a man exhaling cigarette smoke through a tracheotomy hole in his throat or an infant surrounded by cigarette smoke or two pictures of a healthy lung and an ill lung and many more. Ultimately, graphic warnings should be required on cigarette packs because it educates about health risks, decreases smoking rate in the society, and reduces attractiveness of smoking among adults and juveniles.
Since realizing smoking is associated to many health problems such as cancer, many advertisements are designed purposely to the end cigarette smoking. An estimated 40 million adults in the United States currently smoke cigarettes. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States (CDC, 2016). Nowadays we are more conscious about how terrible smoking is for our health. Smoking cigarettes can be one of the most destructive things you can do to your body and yet millions of people around the world continue to do so. Anti-smoking ads fight the cancerous substance and hope to transform the minds of many or even the lives of many. It has become frequent in many advertisements to see the damage that smoking causes to someone and to others due to secondhand contact.
There is clearly no way tobacco will never be outlawed but I believe there should be tighter restrictions on age limits throughout the world, and restrictions on the materials that are used in cigarette processing. Who is just letting cigarette companies continue to poison people and cause cancer risk? Throughout my essay I will analyze the affects of cigarette use on the society of the world and the elaborate corruption that keeps cigarette companies in business.
In the world that surrounds the human race every day, debates about cigarettes are ongoing. Many think that cigarettes should be banned and made illegal just as heroin was. On the contrary, giving up old habits such as smoking can be hard to accomplish and is fought otherwise. The truth is that with every drug there’s a cost that must be paid, although cigarettes are more settled, the life threatening effects cause cancer, heart disease and death.
Every year in the United States, more than 480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke making it the leading cause of preventable death in this country. Cigarette smoking is usually introduced to people at a young age. A majority of smokers started before they were eighteen years of age; smoking at an early age only increases an individual’s chances of suffering from an addiction than those of a late age. In May of 2008, Nicotinell released an advertisement to address the whole smoking situation. Nicotinell presents one of the many disturbing effects of smoking. Rather than ranting and raving about their product’s features and benefits the ad depicts the negative effects of smoking on the body. The ad appeals to all
Each day, millions of Americans of all ages light up a cigarette distributed by the tobacco companies. Smoking is a habit that, in the long run, causes cancer and other diseases associated with the lungs. Now, this deadly cancer causing drug is one of the leading causes of death in America today. Some may argue that it is a person¹s choice to smoke and that the tobacco companies are innocent because of this. In actuality, the tobacco companies are to blame for toying with the lives of millions of Americans. For many years, the tobacco companies have been keeping secrets from the American public and lied about the true effects of cigarette smoking causing our older generations¹ deaths. The tobacco companies now have warning labels on packs of cigarettes and are seeking another generation to kill by aiming their campaign at young teens that don¹t read labels. They are increasing the potency of the nicotine to ³hook² more smokers as well.
“Cigarette is one of the leading cause of death in the World!” “Cigarette can cause lungs cancer!” “Cigarette is harmful and is bad for society!” These are the things that the society taught us ever since we are young. Everyone knows that cigarette is harmful for the human body, but why does the percentage of people smoking is still high and is increasing every year. Why does it is so hard for people to quit or not try cigarette in the first place, despite knowing the consequences of this small, innocent looking-yet-deadly roll of paper. Clearly, the effort of our society to prevent people from smoking is not effective. Recently, more and more anti-smoking campaigns were produced by different corporations, in order to join the race in tobacco
Someone you might know, whether your grandparents, parents, siblings, friends, or even yourself, smokes or has smoked cigarettes. If you haven’t yourself, you’ve seen the effects and consequences one can encounter. Not always, but sometimes, you see the struggles and sickness your loved one can go through and you’d give anything to make that someone feel better. Technology has been on a rise and possibly figured out a safer way. Smoking an electronic cigarette or perhaps a traditional cigarette still provides the nicotine, but it’s possible one can change not just someone’s health for the better but others around them.
Imagine yourself, basking amongst the socialites of the highest class, all the while drowning in laughter, as the expensive mink drips off your shoulder, and your slender hand brings it back up gently, as the sweet, nicotine laced aroma lingers amidst the air. When all of sudden, a handsome billionaire waltzes towards you, and as he cracks a smile, he brings a gentle hand to your cheek, and at the same time that you inhale a sensual puff from your cigarette, you finally recognize him as your loving husband. Lamentably, this scenario sounds almost too exquisite to be true, because in reality it has been specifically engineered by ingenious tobacco companies to be used in their advertisements, in order to increase their revenue. Sadly, tobacco advertisements only show cigarettes within a positive, fantasy-like, or desirable atmosphere, but they do not show the unscrupulous deceit lurking behind each carcinogenic stick. Although, many tobacco ads perceive cigarettes to be trendy and appealing, the truth is they have brought forth a misaligned cultural perception, which has led to an overabundant exposure to harmful side effects, accompanied by a false sense of control.
Tobacco companies are strategical placed all over the world and in some countries that we did not know even existed. Cigarette companies are doing all they possibly can to make money, just like every other company. These tobacco companies do not care about the consumers and the risks that come along with consuming tobacco products. The companies are continuously suing countries because of the way these countries are advertising tobacco products. Yes, I am aware that these multimillion dollar operations need to make money, but however on the other hand the way that cigarettes get advertised should not end up with that country getting in trouble from those companies. Of course many will probably agree with me that suing countries should not be an option. The over all solution I have for this major problem contains the following: once tobacco is purchased from tobacco companies, countries will have the right to advertise these products in which ever ways they please. Also, this will further cancel tobacco companies from being able to sue countries.
Cigarette advertisements give the feeling that smokers are "bursting at the seams with joy" and that smoking is useful to you. Shockingly, nothing could be further from reality. The U.S. government has marked cigarettes as an unsafe medication that causes lung malignancy, coronary illness, and numerous different genuine sicknesses and conditions. Numerous individuals everywhere throughout the nation are discussing whether tobacco organizations ought to be permitted to publicize cigarettes or even to make cigarettes in today 's general public ("Analyzing Assorted Tobacco Advertisements").
One of the biggest problems that people are faced with on a day-to-day basis is cigarette smoke. The sole cause for 480,000 deaths each year just in the United States is accredit to cigarettes(CDC). For a lot of the smokers the habit of smoking happens to assist them when under stress and dealing with issues that are unmanageable. Some smoke to appeal to their peers or simply because it “feels good.” Smoking one cigarette can lead to a major addiction. The effects of smoking hurt oneself and those amongst us. Smoking Kills as the ad portrays this revolver and cigarettes as the bullets, and also lists the side effects of smoking. Cigarettes causes cancer, increases the risk of you getting a stroke, highly addictive and causes a lot of health problems. Nearly 16
Every year tobacco is responsible for over 480,000 deaths. That includes people who have died from secondhand smoke. When statistics like this exist it is hard to understand why tobacco is still legal. This number increases every year that passes and most people believe it isn’t shrinking anytime soon. Tobacco should be banned because it’s deadly to not only the users, it’s highly addictive, and the tobacco industry is corrupting information promoting its harmful product. Society shouldn’t have to deal with anymore premature deaths due to a lethal legal product. We should work towards getting this useless product banned everywhere.
Cigarettes are one of the most common killers known to mankind. Cigarettes kill about 6 million people every year, and that number isn’t going to go down in less we do something about it. Smoking in the twentieth century killed only 100 million people, whereas a billion could die in our century. There are several more reasons why we should ban cigarettes, and I am going list them.
