Now that winter has ended, it is time for Philadelphians to prepare their cars for the onset of spring and summer. A little maintenance can go a long way in preserving your vehicle’s performance; furthermore, preparing a vehicle for the seasons ahead may reduce the likelihood of you being involved in an accident on a dark, rainy night (due to low tire tread) or prevent the engine from overheating on a hot, summer day (because of an inadequate amount of fluid in the radiator).

Other Signs of Wear and Tear
The tire, tread and sidewall should all be inspected for irregular or uneven wear. If there is excessive wear on the edge, shoulder and/or center of the tire, additional maintenance may be required.
Tire Pressure
Once the tread test is complete, your tire’s pressure needs to be checked. The pressure a manufacturer recommends for a specific tire (if the tire is original to the car) can usually be found on a placard that is visible when the driver’s side door is open: Other places the tire pressure recommendations may be found include the glove compartment and in your owner’s manual. Although there is most likely a number visible on the tire itself, this number refers to the maximum amount of pressure that specific tire can hold: That pressure is not usually the recommended amount.
How to check your tire’s pressure:
To obtain an accurate reading, a tire’s pressure needs to be checked when it is cold (not after being driven). Unscrew and remove the cap on the tire’s valve stem. Carefully insert the tire gauge into the valve
Some where out there in the world, is a person who believes that driving a car in all four seasons is a piece of cake. But we all know thats not the truth. When it comes to both Winter and summer, they both have different temperatures and road conditions. In this paper I will be comparing and contrasting driving in both winter and in summer.
Depending on where you live there are stark differences between driving in the summer vs. the winter. First there is the factor of snow and ice in the winter, and in the summer you get harsh rains. There are many variables that we could discuss in these next few paragraphs, but we are only going to be able to list a few.
From both foreign countries and the United States, complaints state that the tires lose their casings when traveling at high speeds. The tire maker claimed it knew nothing of the tread problems until late July, yet consumers have warned the company since the mid 1990’s (Nathan). It also stated that the complaints it finally received did not raise any “red flags” because in relative terms, few tires had failed; less than one in every 10,000 of the 47 million ATX, ATX II, and Wilderness AT tires produced since 1991 have failed (Nathan). Most of the recalled tires came from the Decatur, Illinois plant, the main concentration of the investigation. The company claimed that a workers’ strike at that plant in the nineties, when replacement workers made the product, caused most of the problems.
The similarities and differences between driving in the winter and in summer are numerous. Cars get us from point A to point B, and shelter us from the elements while we do so. Some cars may do a better job at sheltering us comfortably than others when environmental factors come in to play.
However, if you are out for a week or more with your RV than keeping it in a secure way is a must. On the other hand, during winter we don’t use RV that much so storing The RV properly is essential as well. You will agree with me that a RV is an expensive car! And you don’t wish to spend huge cash over and over again.
