In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet two young lovers lost their lives when hate and love collided. From the Montagues came Romeo and from the Capulets was Juliet. The two families were feuding and Romeo and Juliet could not stand being without each other. They both killed themselves because they thought life was not worth living without the other. Though there are many who can be blamed for this tragic ending, there are three that are the most responsible. Mercutio, The Nurse, and Friar Laurence are the three that deserve the most blame. Mercutio, though a minor character, had and enormous impact on the outcome of the play. Before the Capulet Ball, Romeo had been debating whether to go or not. Mercutio persuaded him to go by giving a big speech to him about a dream he had. This makes him partially responsible because the Ball is where Romeo first met Juliet. Mercutio also caused Romeo to be banished from Verona. Mercutio got in a fight with Tybalt and ended up dead. His death enraged Romeo enough to make him kill Tybalt in revenge. When the Prince saw what happened, he sent Romeo into exile. Romeo's banishment to Mantua made it near impossible for Romeo and Juliet to see each other. Mercutio was to blame, though only partially for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The Nurse was also responsible for the tragic ending of the play. When Romeo and Juliet met, the Nurse became their messenger. She helped them be together even though she knew Romeo was a Montague and that Juliet's family would disapprove. The Nurse brought news to Juliet from Romeo telling her to sneak out so they could get married. She helped Juliet get out of her house by bringing her a rope ladder to climb off her balcony with and telling her parents that she went to shrift. The Nurse kept Romeo and Juliet's marriage a secret from the families. When Juliet's parents said she should marry Paris, the Nurse agreed and said that Juliet should forget about Romeo because he was in Mantua. With the Nurse no longer on her side she had no one to help her and back her up but the Friar. In this way she had a large impact on the terrible ending of Romeo and Juliet.
Nurse was a fickle character, her changeability was significant in partly causing Juliet’s pseudo death. Juliet confided in Nurse when she met Romeo. Nurse not only encouraged the marriage, but went as far as arranging it. However, when Capulet made plans for Juliet to marry Paris, Nurse told Juliet that Paris was better for her.
Who is the most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? There are many opinions on who is to blame for the deaths of these "star crossed lovers." One of these opinions is that both Romeo and Juliet are equally to blame for their own deaths. Romeo nor Juliet knew how to resolve their own problems and went directly to Friar Lawrence. Whenever Romeo and Juliet failed to resolve their problem, their resolution was suicide. Romeo and Juliet also withheld the love affair between them, from their families.
Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet were aided in their love. It was according to Romeo and Juliet love at first sight and with the help of Juliet’s closest companion the nurse and Friar Lawrence it was made possible for the lovers to exchange vows and continue their relationship behind the twos houses backs. The nurse plays a role in Juliet’s life ‘when it did taste the wormwood on the nipple’ we find out that Juliet’s and the nurse have ad a close and long term friendship with Juliet even feeding off her as a baby, this close relationship is important alter on in the play when the nurse betrays Juliet’s trust.
In the story “ The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “ the main characters get themselves in a pickle by falling in love knowing that their families are sworn enemies. Soon Romeo kills Juliet's cousin by accident, Juliet drinks a potion, some words get twisted and at the end both of the lovebirds end up dead. At the end of the story both families are devastated that both of their children pass away, but there are also many unanswered questions. The most asked question in the story is “ Who's to blame? ” and overall I believe everyone has a little part in influencing their death, but I believe that one person is to blame for most of this and I believe that it is the mother and father of Juliet.
The Role of the Nurse in Her Relationship with Juliet in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
The Nurse is a loving and caring character much more different from Benvolio and Romeo. The Nurse is Juliet’s motherly figure the one that is on Juliet side and only wants to see her happy. When Juliet’s real mom, Lady Capulet suggested that Juliet should accept the marriage proposal that Paris had offered, the Nurse, happily agreed with Lady Capulet because the only thing the Nurse wanted was to see Juliet happy like any mother would. “‘Go girl, seek happy nights to happy days.”’ (Shakespeare I.iii.105). This scene and the statement that the Nurse made shows how much the Nurse cares for Juliet, she treats her like a daughter and is thinking about her happiness. The Nurse shows that she has motherly traits and that she is very caring taking
She is extremely trustworthy and kind, and really does want the best for Juliet. The Nurse also demonstrates her caring character through doing odd deeds for Juliet. On the night that Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love, Romeo goes to Juliet’s house and talks to her in private. They fall in love even more, and Romeo decides that he wants to get married to Juliet. Juliet hesitates slightly, saying that this was all happening too fast, so she decides to send her Nurse tomorrow to make sure that Romeo’s words were true: “. . . Pray you, sir, a word; and, / as I told you, my young lady bid me enquire you out” (Shakespeare 2.4.149-150). Juliet’s parents would never help out as much as the Nurse. They would never have gone to Juliet’s lover and tried to figure out if his words were true or false. That is why the Nurse is more of a parent to Juliet than her actual parents. Juliet can count on her to do anything for her. Lastly, the Nurse shows how much she cares for Juliet during the Tybalt-Romeo dilemma. When Juliet asks for advice on this, the Nurse considers the options, as Romeo was banished, and that is a big issue. She finally says that she should marry Paris, a man who loves Juliet and has approval from her father to marry her later on, because then she will be

In the fair city of Verona two families clash due to their large egos and stubbornness. The most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence. He married The two lovers. The second most responsible for the deaths is Romeo Montague. He made rash and unreasonable decisions. The third most responsible for the deaths is the Prince. He banished Romeo. The Nurse helps Juliet to marry Romeo because she is just thinking about Juliet’s feelings without thinking about the problems this marriage could cause. In Act I, Scene. v., lines 137-138, she tells Juliet who Romeo is. It causes Juliet to get very upset: “My only love, sprung from my only hate.'; (I.V.139), but the Nurse doesn’t think about this. She doesn’t see the trouble that has started. After the nurse realizes that Juliet and Romeo love each other, she doesn’t stop it; instead, she agrees to carry the message to Romeo, although she knows Romeo is a Montague. After the Nurse has a secret meeting with Romeo, she teases Juliet and praises Romeo as a handsome and nice young man. She does not explain to Juliet the problems of loving Romeo. She helps and encourages Juliet to get to Friar Laurence’s cell to get married. The Nurse doesn’t consider the dangerous result of this action. She only thinks of the moment.
The nurse is to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. She plays a big part in this story, if she would have never went out to find Romeo and tell him how Juliet feels this would have never started they would have just met at the party and never talked again. She pretty much influenced Juliet to go against her parents and their word. She also rushed Juliet in a way she was rushing her to get married.
Mercutio can be blamed for Romeo and Juliet’s peril because he initiated the fight with Tybalt and forced Romeo to go to the Capulet’s party. At the beginning of the play, Romeo gets invited to the Capulet’s party by a servant, unless he was a Montague. At first, Romeo did not want to go, but Mercutio eventually convinced him under the pretext that Rosaline, Romeo’s love, was going to be there. The next day, Tybalt, a Capulet, went looking for Romeo because he knew that Romeo was at the Capulet party. Instead, he stumbled upon Mercutio and Benvolio and asked them where he could find Romeo. However, Mercutio did not want to tell him and insisted on having a duel. Tybalt killed Mercutio during the fight, and Romeo kills Tybalt because he has the need to avenge his friend. At the time, she is not thinking about the consequences that come with this relationship. She just wants Juliet to be happy. Before the marriage, the nurse wanted Romeo to understand that Juliet is from a good family and will not stand for any ill-treatment. She becomes protective of Juliet by asking Romeo if he is trustworthy, she says to Romeo “Is your man secret? Did you ne’er hear say, Two may keep counsel, putting one away?” (Shakespeare 66).
