The development of mankind, is an extraordinary thing to study. Through the use of history, human society continues to evolve. There have been multiple questions and concerns about the true knowledge of how we came to be. How were humans able to adapt, grow, and expand their horizons to what we have now, known as modern day. In regards to Chapter 1, there are several possible answers to consider based on the aftermath of our present time frame. These "answers" are known as the top 5 main theories that society lived by. Though all 5 theories hold great value in human society, there are a few theories that impact human development more. These are Cognitive Theory, Behaviorism, and Humanism.

What often confuses one person train of thought, may seem like a great revelation to another. When entering a new playing field, individuals have already placed some particular expectations (known as a psychological guide or map) that allows them to, somewhat, prepare their mind and body. However, the things that are usually assumed are often false by default. In order to readjust the mind to think more objectively, the use of plasticity may help open our cognitive thinking pattern. The concept of plasticity in development provides both hope and realism-hope because change is possible, and realism because development builds on what has come before.” (pg. 20) Similar to Cognitive Theory, plasticity revolves around the truth of reality though we still sometimes based current experiences on past ones. We look forward to filling the void of loneliness and empty. However, those feelings can often get us in to more trouble than good. Based on the 5 basic terms of Humanism approach, society has first made way to produce consumer demands for food, shelter, and viable drinking utilities. The security of this is through the formation of laws being passed, to authorized access to these important resources. The next two steps related to the approach of Humanism is Safety (installed police department and ability to bear weapons), and belonging and love (interactions with family and friends). From the last two step, self-actualization and esteem, both are often influenced by the first three steps towards Humanism (especially the belonging and love portion). Through looking for what we desire the most, there are times when we make mistakes because the places we look towards to obtain that fulfillment is not trying what we need. Everyone needs love, but (unfortunately) not everyone is able to receive, in order to identify later to give back the right way. The same premises with all the other steps. If people are not properly exposed to what they need in the beginning, it’s hard to recognize and value it in the near
