After completing Sternberg’s assessment of my triarchic intelligence, it has been determined that my analytical intelligence is the highest of the three triarchic intelligences. Having analytical intelligence means that I like to do the following: “think clearly and analytically, solve logical problems, and explain difficult ideas or problems to others” (Bleggi).
The other main theorist that dealt with intelligence was Gardner. His multiple intelligences theory suggest that intelligence is divided into eight different categories: logical-mathematical, linguistic, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist each with their own individual characteristics (Woolfolk 116). After finishing Gardner’s assessment of my multiple intelligences, it was determined that my three highest intelligences (in order from most apparent to least apparent) are logical-mathematical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. ...o likes many small details and will benefit greatly when these details are presented in visual manors. Even though I am very detailed in my personality and my best methods of learning, my learning preferences are fairly straightforward and simple. When learning, I prefer cool and dark environments and to work in solitude. These environments will keep my levels of motivation high and provides me with a very clear-cut and effective process to learn new material. The fact that I prefer afternoon or evening hours to study confirms the idea that I prefer darker environments. Since I’m aware that I prefer certain structures to this extent, this also confirms my analytical, left brained personality. Hopefully, I will always have this personality and that I will be able to reach out to my future students regardless of their multiple intelligences or learning preferences.
