One activity that we did in class that met this standard was the Developmental Study Partner Activities. We had to do the activity listed and then we had to determine which theorist our idea matched.
2. The student will develop a knowledge base of normal and exceptional development of
the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains of young children.
This objective was mastered through the multiple classroom discussions that were based on the development of a child. Many times, a person would ask a question about the developmental advances or lack of advances in children they knew, which would then spark up a discussion about the development in all children.
Management and Organization
1. The student will suggest strategies for promoting and enhancing physical and motor
development during the early years developmental periods.
At the bottom of Notebook Activity number four, there was a Dive Deeper question that stated, “What can parents do to promote young child’s motor activity at home?” In order to answer this question, we had to come up the strategies that we felt parents could use in order to encourage motor development at home.
2. Students will demonstrate knowledge and skill to promote positive learning environments.
I believe that this objective was mastered based on the participation of a student in class. Most of the students were engaged and asking thoughtful questions and others would provide thoughtful responses. These discussions forced us to demonstrate our knowledge and skill and do so in a way that was professional and that also promoted a positive learning environment.

1. The student will recognize the importance of cultural influences on the developing child.
This objective was met when the presenters came in to talk to us about grief in children. Bina mentioned multiple times how the culture of the child plays a huge role in how they grieve in a particular situation.
2. The student will identify socio-cultural influences in prenatal care.
The last group who presented their special topics report, showed us a video clip about violence in children and how each culture deals with punishment in a different way, and how some of these punishment methods are not socially acceptable.
