“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed” this is a quote that describes the path Theodore took to lead his life. Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He was the youngest president in the U.S history, he was almost 43 years old. Theodore Roosevelt came from a wealthy family, and had bad health. President Theodore Roosevelt’s hard life led him to became a great president.
Theodore was born on October 27. 1858 in New York City on 28 East 20th Street. His family was Dutch and came to America in the seventeenth century. He came from a wealthy family, his family owned a plate-glass import company. Theodore had bad health when he was little, he had asthma and was near-sighted. Some of his asthma attacks lasted for several weeks. He also suffered from headaches, fevers, stomach pain and intestinal groaning. Since Theodore had asthma he became homeschooled, and spent most of his time inside. He had a passion in animals, his house smelled because, he would bring in specimens and experiment on them. Theodore was a very intelligent child but was very short and skinny. His father was disappointed in Theodore and said to him “Theodore you have the mind but you have not a body, and without the help of the body the mind can’t go as fast as it should”. Theodore and his father built a gym in the house so he could pick weights and box. From that point on he had a sports routine including boxing and weightlifting, and later he discovered that he loved hiking. With the help of his father Theodore became a well-rounded person.
The Roosevelt children had bad health from the beginning, Bamie had spinal reflect because she was dropped as a baby, and Elliot suffered from rushes of blood to his head....

He went on a safari in Africa and explored the Amazon River of South America. He published his life story, as well as other books. He also turned down the Republican Party nomination for governor of New York. Theodore Roosevelt died at the age of sixty in his sleep on January 6, 1919.
President Theodore Roosevelt’s unique life helped him become a great president. Theodore was a popular president who led with great powers. Many considered him the most important American of his generation. Roosevelt is one of the four faces carved on South Dakota’s Mount Rushmore. Today Americans admire Roosevelt for his enthusiasm and for the strength of his character. Theodore Roosevelt was one of the greatest presidents who ever lived.
