The "Moon Hoax" has been around since 1835, when the New York Sun printed an article about this whole ordeal. The New York Sun used and credited Sir John Herschel, who was a British Astronomer. Herschel claimed that he had tried out a new type of telescope on the Cape of Good Hope in January of 1834. While in Cape Town, he said he'd set up an Observatory. Using this, he claimed to have observed what he thought of as the "Real" Moon. He claimed to have seen vegetation, bodies of water, and living creatures. He also said he had seen "Bat People" who were described as being furry winged men. This took the People at a shock, and the "Evidence" and science astounded them. So many began to believe this is true.
Today, there is still talk of this "Moon Hoax". There are many things that one can say doesn't make sense about the whole idea of landing on the moon. Most astronauts that have landed on the moon have brought back samples of a type of Lunar rock.
According to Dr. Sten Odenwald, we have accumulated at least 841.6 pounds of moon rock.. ?Moon Hoax? Believers say that this Moon Rock could be any thing, and that if you take an unfamiliar type of rock, and call it a Moon Rock, people are going to believe it. There is one major problem with this theory. ?Dr. David McKay of NASA's Johnson Space Center says that faking a Moon rock to fool scientists around the world would be next to impossible. ?It would be far easier to just go to the Moon and get one!? he says.? In August of 1835, The New York Sun newspaper published a series of fantastical articles outlining the findings of famous astrologist John Herschel supposedly published in The Edinburgh Journal of Science. This series of articles falsely claimed that Herschel had constructed a new powerful telescope, giving him the ability to observe life on the moon. Although this claim would immediately be dismissed as ludicrous in today's society, it was actually widely accepted by the general public of its day. Apollo 11 landed safely on the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong stated that this was, “One small step for man; but one giant leap for mankind. Apparently a colossal 25% of Americans believe that the moon landing is a hoax and not fact. Conspiracy theories are theories that explain an event as being the result of a plot by a covert group or organization. Many people believe in the theories that explain various events, including the moon landings.The moon landings caused the creation of countless theories on how the U.S. Government faked them on a Hollywood soundstage. In fact, 7% of Americans believe that the moon landings were a hoax. That is more people than the population of New York State. Some of the theories about the moon landings make sense, which is a valid reason for so many people to believe them, but, they all have a fatal flaw. Conspiracy theories trying to disprove the moon landings need to end due to the lack of evidence.
People are still arguing if the moon landing in 1969 was real or faked by the United States Of America. Some people think it was faked and if they are true this would be very embarrassing to America and NASA. Some think it was real because of some of the evidence they brought back supposedly from the moon's surface but this is my opinion.

There are various reasons people have come up with to try and prove that the moon landing didn’t happen but they all have logical responses. NASA completed what President Kennedy promised six years after he was assassinated. The fact that all six moon landings happened under Nixon’s administration is how the cookie crumbled. People who believe the moon landing is a hoax is accusing NASA of pulling off something so much more complex than actually making it to the moon. The two biggest superpowers of the world were waging a war: a war of supremacy. Indeed, the U.S needed to beat its rival, the Soviet Union, to win the Cold War. Both nations wanted to be the first on the moon, therefore, the United States strived to win the Space Race and consequently have victory over the Cold War. Given these facts, the Space Race not only helped the Americans have advantage in the Cold War, but has also affected America to this day.
