Although Howard Hughes had a very cocky attitude, he did what he needed to do to finish his life goals: "Things I want to be 1. The best golfer in the world. 2. The best flyer pilot. 3. the most famous producer of moving pictures." Goals written on the back of a receipt (p55) His attitude was so impressive that it led to a major contribution in the world of aviation. The steps that he took, not listening to people say that he cannot do it, great secrecy, the need for perfection, and he does what ever is necessary to get the job done, that along side of his Texan attitude would lead to one of the greatest achievements in aviation. This great achievement was that of pressurized cabins which led to being able to fly higher and faster, thus cutting down travel time and expenses. Howard Hughes?s attitude was astounding, a quote from him which reads ?Bob, please read the attached article. It refers to me as a millionaire, while others have called me a billionaire. I?m very concerned about this change in perception and the effect it will have on our businesses? (Richard Hack P xi). This is showing how great of an attitude he has if he can be so picky that he worries about if people view him as a millionaire rather than a billionaire. When Hughes had something to tell someone he had no problem with worrying about what they would think about it, or who that person is. When Howard said ?I am a little tired of being pushed around and intimidated by Senators Brewster and Ferguson just because they have some very strong powers which are granted to all Senators but which were not intended to be misused for the promotion of a three-ring publicity circus.? (P159) This shows that Hughes obviously did not care if he was talking about senators talking down on him or just a normal person. He just does not care who they are- he will not take it. We all know that Howard had money because of his great attitude, ?While the rest of America was having trouble placing food on the table, Hughes felt the effect only when he decided to buy a new plane, and was told that he needed to pay for his purchase with cash.? This shows how rich he was, but more importantly it shows that he can be very cocky about it.
If someone wants to succeed in life and stay recognized by superiors, then he or she ought to appear hardworking. A person begins with setting goals. There are two categories, the first, “be” goals and the second, “do” goals. In other words, ask yourself, "What to be?" or "What to achieve?" Four categories of goals consist of wealth, health, relationships, and self-fulfillment which equal success. Working diligently to finish a task demonstrates how to live a successful life. Given these points, Thomas Edison, Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman, all exceptional achievers, found that prosperity undoubtedly comes along for everyone who perseveres.

Henry Ford was a captain of industry. He owned Ford Motors, which was an automobile company. Ford was a man who always wanted his own way and he got it most of the time. The creation he is most famous for is the FORD MODEL T, the car for the commoners. His car became an instant hit amongst the people- the local people and the working class of people because it was very affordable and was not just for the rich. Ford was a very successful businessman but not particularly a nice guy. He expected a lot from his workers but thing is that he also cared for his workers, because he knew that not only were they dependent on him but also that he depended upon them, they were the ones due to which he was gaining popularity and success throughout America. Ford’s great strength was the manufacturing process for his cars. Instead of having people put together the entire car he created organized teams that added parts to the Model T as it moved down the assembly line, this lowered the production prices and also the time and energy required to put together the cars.
Picture this, having to travel over 10,000 miles to get something you really wanted accomplished. This is one of the interesting points Mitch Kachun brings up about Mr. Wright in his essay “Major Richard R. Wright Sr. National Freedom Day, and the Rhetoric of Freedom in the 1940’s. In this essay he not only tells the very interesting story of Wright’s life but he also goes in details about everything that came up in his way and what he did to change the world and mold it to what we see today. One thing Kachun reminds us in this paper is to never forget or past and where we came from, because if we do we will repeat it. Also to pay our respects to a wonderful man who paved the way for us African American college students to be in the place that we are today.
Garrett Morgan was born in 1877 when it was a very hard time for black people to get jobs and money. Mr. Morgan was the first black man in Cleveland to own his own car. His father was half slave and half colonial. His race affected his career and life monumentally. Garrett morgan really had to push through racial adversity and hard times. He was only educated up to grade 6 and did not go to college. His first job was at a factory where he found out how much he was an innovator and an entrepreneur. He quickly learned how the machines worked and he started tinkering himself. He invented a traffic signal that was used by many people nationwide but he only ended up getting $40,000 profit from it. He did not get all of the money that he deserved for it. Garrett Morgan was most well known for making the very first gas mask. It was called the safety hood and covered your whole head. This invention did not sell well until he hired a white actor to pretend to be a salesman while Mr. Morgan was a native american chief. Mr. Morgan demonstrated how he could stay perfectly okay in a smoke
Through gusto and bravado, Mitchell left his mark on American history. The image of a hot-headed pilot with an big ego continues in popular culture to this day. In even such a controlled environment as the United States Military, perhaps no one represented the wild, free, aspiring nature of flight better than William Mitchell.

His body was examined and from reports he looked unrecognizable, for his beard, fingernails, and hair were super long. Also at six foot one he only weighted 90 lbs which I am sure this did not help his health situation at the time of his death. After the medical exam it was said that a kidney stone caused kidney failure to occur. He left behind a great legacy and brought many of the aviation commodities that we still use today. Hughes was known for also being a philosopher so I will leave with one of his Quotes that pretty much summed up his life. “I am by nature a perfectionist, and I seem to have trouble allowing anything to go through in a half-perfect condition. So if I made any mistake it was in working too hard and in doing too much of it with my own hands.” Howard Hughes.
Charles did all of this to try and establish commercial aviation in the US. He then thought one of the greatest ways to do this was to be the first man to fly from New York to Paris. He left from New York and he was able to fly all the way to Paris. The news really helped spread the word about him and now he was a hero for people all over the world.
During his lifetime he was known as the wealthier self-made man in the world. Howard Hughes’ riches directly and indirectly helped America’s economy flourish for many decades. For one, Hollywood films accounts for a portion of U.S goods and service revenues. Also, he created many job opportunities for men who could not seek job during the depression and beyond. Two, Hughes was known for spending excessively thought-out his life and more so towards he later adulthood. He purchased an entire Nevada hotel, after refusing to leave when asked. He became Navada’s biggest landlord. Hughes went on a one hundred million dollar buying spree; he bought casinos, local airport, and a television station.
