Draft Analysis of Language Influence My two written works were created a century apart. Christine, was written in 1983, whereas, The Tell- Tale Heart, was written in 1843. My change and point of view would be for Christine to reflect the time period of The Tell- Tale Heart. The man in the short story has gone mad but at one time, he was quite sane. Arnie whom was quite sane, goes mad. Arnie and Dennis, and of course, Christine, are the main characters. In Poe 's story you have the man, the old man, and the "evil eye." In order for Christine to reflect the time period of the 1800 's, the car would change into the "evil eye." Our three characters do transform. Dennis, is the murdering man. The narrator, Dennis would need to be more obvious as did the man in Poe 's short story. He was the one telling us all the details. The character Dennis, would need to be more structured and independent to carry the story. In King 's novel, the narrator position jumps around with many people. The elements of this time period are straight-forward, for the most part, regarding Poe. King though, systematic structure would be more beneficial for the 1800th century time period. Semantics, I believe would be in the title of Poe 's work. The "tale" of the (tell)ing heart. Both the man and old man have a telling tale. Christine, in order for it to reflect The Tell-Tale Heart, elaborates on it 's personification and symbolism. The evil eye, like the car, was brought on and out by humanistic qualities. The car for sure, Christine was red hot evil. The old man was the host for the evil, just like Arnie. Both Arnie and the old man die with the evil. Although, evil doesn 't sleep or die, is another metaphor or explanation. All three elements are utilized differently and
