Oh TV, what would I do without you? Admit it; this is how most of us feel about television. Television has been around for more than just a couple of decades in this society and it is no surprise that television is indisputably one of the most important inventions in modern history. Television which was originally seen as a sign of wealth has now become a standard in this society. Television is the primary news medium for today’s society; along with that it is the primary source of entertainment for us, from sources such as comedy shows, reality TV, game shows, and even sport competitions. While it is true television is important to us, has television brought more help or hurt to society? While it is true there are negative effects that television has brought upon this society, the beneficial contributions of television outweigh the negative aspects of television.
It has been a couple of years since I have lived in America, one of the things that made the shift from different cultures easier is, television. I am not joking it is television. Child friendly/educational programming is not a relatively new part of television. It has been around for many years in various shapes and forms. Child educational programs like Sesame Street and other programs teach kids positive values such as sharing, caring, friendship, etc… along with numbers, alphabets and in some cases languages. Kid-friendly programs are not only beneficial to children but they are hugely important to parents as well. Children learn many basics of education through these programs so parents doesn’t have to spend that much energy and effort into making sure their children learn basic
