Technology: Its Effect on Education

Education is “The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life” (Education). Technology comes in many forms including the Internet. It can be used in many different ways, one being educational purposes. Throughout history, technology has had an effect on Education; examples of this are the Internet, online courses, the use of technology in class, and with these there are also limitations. It’s believed that with technology, educators are able to teach students with a higher impact on their education.

“The Internet is a vast computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide (usually prec. by the). The Internet includes commercial, educational, governmental, and other networks, all of which use the same set of communications protocols” (Internet). The Internet, being this vast computer network, is also a communication system that links everyone who is able to access it, together. The use of this vast computer network, as it said, can also be used as an educational network. This education network can make information readily available for anyone who needs to access it. This readily available resource affects us by allowing students, and others alike to obtain this information fast, allowing us to be more proficient when learning. The Internet is not limited to just a resource source, it can also be used as an alternative to the traditional classroom, or online courses. This wouldn’t be possible without the computer as it is a key component in the use of the internet.
