“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important” (Grates). Teachers model the use of many aspects of technology on a daily basis from computer software to email to digital resources used for teaching and learning. The definition of technology I most agree with is the practical application of knowledge, especially in a particular area. I particularly like this definition of technology because it touches on the fact that technology does not only have to be computers or phones. However, technology is knowledge, a tool, or a resource that students are required to use to succeed in school.
Since, technology is such an important tool for pupils’ education teachers must be able to model and teach appropriate use of the Internet and cell phones in the classroom. For this to happen, it is important that all schools have a protocol and rules about the use of technology. This is where digital citizenship becomes an important concept for all school to understand. Digital citizenship requires that students and teachers understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior in the use of it. It is highly important that students have and know the standards they must follow to have the privilege to use the internet. The internet becomes a valuable tool for students to have. For example to look for information for a research project on any particular subject. For instance, in my school experience since the 1st-grade when we were allowed to use the computers we as students were given a contract to sign stating the rules to be allowed to use the internet. Along with our signature, we needed our teachers’ s...

...ommunicate information quickly to students and families I consider the use of media is high useful.
In conclusion, I believe that even though not all schools have the same resources available due to the limited social, economic levels of each district, all teachers should incorporate the use of technology in any form. Because it will prepare students for the future, a future where technology is becoming the primary means of living life. Technology does not have to be electronics technology can be math manipulates or anything that can help a student have a resource available to them as an aid in something they struggle with understanding. Technology should only be used as a shortcut if the student has the information behind the data. Technology should never be the primary means of a student’s information; a teacher should always be the primary information provider.

Benefits Of Integrating Technology As A Teaching Tool Essays

- Before I registered for Teaching Technology in The Classroom, I had the idea that technology was a simple skill to integrate in the classrooms. I just thought that teaching technology would be simple and fun for the students. I used to think that student already know a lot of technology, therefore it would be as simple subject to integrate in the classrooms. In fact, I used to question the integration of computers in the preschool classrooms. After completing this course, I have learned so much about the benefits of integrating technology as a teaching tool....   [tags: Education, Skill, Learning]

Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology in the Classroom

- Technology has changed many aspects of our lives, so why should we expect less of the classroom atmosphere. Technology in the classroom has changed the way students learn and the way teachers teach. Technology today is integrated into the classroom as a teaching tool rather than being taught as a course. There are many ways that technology is used in today’s classroom such as the World Wide Web, Power Point, and Excel (Starr, 2011). Teachers will continue to be the most important aspect of a child’s education because they teach and technology does not....   [tags: teaching tool, learning, distracted, performance]

Use Of Technology For Teaching And Learning Essay

- As an Instructional Coach and teacher, my stance on the use of technology for teaching and learning is that in the right hands, using technology can lead to a rich learning experience for students. But as long as instruction and curriculum remain the same as pre-technology days, technology itself won’t make much of an impact. Let’s look at class size to understand this better. Teachers and parents want smaller class sizes. A class of thirty or more is viewed as too big. Yet, reducing class size, according to John Hattie (2009) in his Visible Learning, does not improve student achievement....   [tags: Education, Teacher, Learning, Effect size]

Teaching For Teaching Young Children Essay

- Teaching young children is possibly one of the most challenging and difficult professions. No matter the subject, an educator must plan, prepare, organize, set up, and review everything that they are going to teach. “Students use mathematics textbooks to study and to do homework questions, while professors and teachers may use them to prepare classes and to teach” (Kajander & Lovric, 2009, p.173). Using textbooks can be a quicker and effective way to help ease the way some educators lesson plan; while teaching without textbooks may be a more difficult task but can be just as rewarding....   [tags: Education, Teacher, Lesson plan, Teaching]

Essay on Technology As A Tool For Education

- The twenty-first century has arrived, and it has brought some of the most advanced computing technologies into the classroom; this leaves us with a very important question, do we really need technology, such as iPads or computers, implemented in our learning plans. As a student that has taken entire courses on iPads or computers, I can tell you that the former is not the case. There are plenty of reasons to teach about technological advances in each individual field of learning, but, more often than not, technology is unreliable and distracting for students....   [tags: Education, Technology, Learning, Student]

From Tool to Vector: Why You Need to Reconsider Your Use of Technology Essay

- We have advocated for many years that technology is only a “tool,” and thus a means to an end. In our rationale, a tool is vital and important, but is used to reach an end result. Thus, “curriculum” was the given component, and it was the teacher’s task to determine what tools best facilitated the reaching of the desired end. It now seems to us that this is changing and that technology is now a method of instruction. It is no longer sufficient for an instructional leader to view technology as just another tool in the classroom as it now provides a method for teachers to transcend instruction beyond traditional direct instruction models and more into the social aspect of learning....   [tags: Technology ]

Essay on Technology - The Use of Holograms as a Teaching Tool

- The Use of Holograms as a Teaching Tool "Wake up honey, you are going to be late for school if you don't hurry!" my mom shouted from the kitchen. "Do I have to go?" I moaned. "Yes, now hurry" she said. "Fine!" I yelled, as I stormed out the door. Once I got to the school, I hurried my way to U.S. History and took my seat. I was doing my usual day dreaming, before I actually realized what the rest of the class was discussing. Teaching and Learning in a Networked Composition Classroom Essay

- Teaching and Learning in a Networked Composition Classroom In her essay “Technology and Literacy: A Story about the Perils of Not Paying Attention,” Cynthia L. Selfe notes that “technology is either boring or frightening to most humanists; many teachers of English composition feel it antithetical to their primary concerns and many believe it should not be allowed to take up valuable scholarly time or the attention that could be best put to use in teaching or the study of literacy” (Self 412). Looking around campus it takes little time to verify Selfe’s caution about indifference to computers: except in its uses as “a simple tool that individual faculty members can use or ignore in their cla...   [tags: Education Teaching]
