Technology in the Classroom
Technology is everywhere and used in every part of life. Practically every job
uses some form of technology. It is important for students to learn how to use technology
in order to function in this technology-based country. But it is also extremely important
for students to learn using technology. Technology has the capability of opening all
students eyes to a world of mathematics that they never before could have even began to
imagine or understand.
The U.S Department of Education is developing a plan, The National Education
Technology Plan, to incorporate technology properly into the classroom. The goal of this
plan is to improve student learning and to prepare students for the world we live in today.
The Secretary of Education, Rod Paige, feels that
?America?s prosperity in the 21st century rests largely upon the success of
our education system to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills
needed to thrive in our global economy. As innovation drives economic
growth, it is incumbent upon us to explore innovative means of improving
learning and instruction. Education is no longer limited to our early years;
it is now a life-long pursuit and we need new systems and tools to meet
this need. We are barely scratching the surface of technology?s potential to
transform the way we learn.?
I believe that technology can improve student learning and achievement if used
correctly. It can help students to develop the knowledge and skills Rod Paige discusses.
Understanding key math points is essential to being successful in our world. Technology
can put an image to a word problem, a 3-D shape to an equation, a solution to an
?impossible? example. There are many things technology can do, a...

so that when my students are sick they aren?t held behind. I feel that parent/teacher
communication is very important, because as a teacher, I cannot follow my students
home and make sure they do their homework. But if a parent sees that their child?s grades
are suffering in the homework section or if they read on the website there is a homework
assignment, then they can make sure their child does his/her homework.
Technology will help me as a teacher in the future and is helping teachers as they
teach now. As technology changes, hopefully I will be able to incorporate new types of
technology into my classroom as needed. Students will also become better learners using
technology as it is beginning to be more and more incorporated into the classroom.
Technology can have a very powerful positive effect on learning as well as teaching.
It is helpful to connect the learning to a student’s prior experience. Teachers also need to consider the role of technology in their classroom.
get any sleep and then they would be tired the next day. Many struggle with homework and get
me that they were to busy and come back after school for help. I would show up to their classroom
This can be extremely difficult in a situation where the child has missed a day of school. When a student misses a day of school they are required to have all of their work done for the next day. If the student has missed a lesson then more than likely their parent will have to teach them the lesson if their parent does not help them then they will have to teach themselves the lesson that they had missed out on the day before. Majority of the time the parent might not even know how to teach the lesson to their child since the standards are so different compared to what they had learned in school. This can then lead to the parents, also the child, to be very confused with the
Technology enables students and teachers to have a fast and easy way to acquire unlimited access to tons of information. With all of the useful technologies, the curriculum is bound to change in endless ways, creating more opportunity for learning.
The twenty-first century has arrived, and it has brought some of the most advanced computing technologies into the classroom; this leaves us with a very important question, do we really need technology, such as iPads or computers, implemented in our learning plans? As a student that has taken entire courses on iPads or computers, I can tell you that the former is not the case. There are plenty of reasons to teach about technological advances in each individual field of learning, but, more often than not, technology is unreliable and distracting for students. Not to mention that methods of maintenance rehearsal, like taking notes by hand, are more effective for recollection of information than staring into a screen. The bottom line is, using technology as a tool for education in the classroom is not necessary because it can inhibit the way students learn material.
For the teacher, computer technology can lead to more efficient time management in record keeping and developing lessons plans as well as the ease of conducting any kind of research and communication without having to leave the classroom.

As an educator it is my job to make sure that parents are informed about their child or children. So we can address the matters and attempt to help with whatever is going on. I also feel like it is important for teachers to reach out to parents when things are going good. When a student’s grades change for the positive, I also think contact should be made. I think that teachers should find out what means of communication works best for the parent. Maybe the parent works a lot and can only read an email or take a quick phone call at lunch. As a teacher you have to be flexible for the parents in many
In conclusion, technology has changed education for the better allowing access to unlimited resources, distance learning and broadening the means of communication. Technology creates a more encouraging environment and stimulates students to engage in something they may be familiar with. Technology has allowed people to know more and to collaborate with each other. Students have a great range of technologies which strengthens the relationship between knowledge and students. The technology used today throughout the world will only strengthen and advance the 21st century education system. With unlimited resources, students can take advantage of their learning and gain the most from it. Integrating technology into education promotes a better learning community.
Research shows that children do better in school when parents talk often with teachers and become involved. Kids whose parents interact with teachers usually get higher grades and test scores, develop positive attitudes about school, and are better behaved. Parents and teachers need to communicate on a regular basis, not just at parent/teacher conferences. But sometimes, a parent doesn’t know just how to go about getting involved or how to make that positive connection with the teacher and/or school.
Modern technology has made it so much easier to obtain educational information for classroom or homework assignments. It offers educational games that stimulate the brain and help children who have difficulties focusing on traditional teaching and learning procedures. College students are even taking advantage of online courses that many colleges are offering as an alternative to physically attending classes. Advances in technology and computers will continue to play an important role in education for many generations to come.
Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education.
to perform menial tasks. With computers in school, students will be given the advantage of
As a college student who would like to become a teacher, I believe that technology will help a child. All children learn differently, and technology is to help the children who have no other place to go. Some children are just unable to learn from a teacher, that is when technology plays a big role. Some children have to show themselves how to do things and technology will allow that.
