Technology and A Viable Energy Source

Over the past one hundred years electricity has grown to become the sole driving force behind society. Increasing technological advancement and the growing availability of technology will require a viable energy source to meet the growing demand for power in the coming years. Our current primary source of energy is obtained from the combustion of Fossil fuels such as Coal, Oil and Natural Gas.
The effects of this are not only detrimental to the environment through the release of pollutants into the atmosphere but Fossil Fuel stores are being diminished fairly rapidly, due to the increase in fuel demand around the world, demonstrating that an alternative source of energy will be required.
Many alternative "green" energy sources are being researched and employed around the world such as Thermal, Hydro and Wind power generation, although with current technologies these power sources are not efficient enough to support a global demand for energy. Currently there is only one other source of power generation that is not only efficient enough to support global energy requirements but also provide an escape from current environmental issues associated with the combustion of fossil fuels. This energy source is Nuclear Power.

Electricity is generated by through the boiling of water for the purpose of generating steam. The steam produced by the boiler is injected at high pressure into the turbine inducing a rotating effect (Decher, Reiner. 1996.), this interaction basically leads to a source for energy conversion and hence electricity.
The issue lies with the source of heat needed for the vaporization of water.
Fossil fuels, particularly coal, undergo combustion for the purpose of generating heat in this situation. The combustion process ...

...n conclusion, Fossil fuels are not only a diminishing resource but also pose large impact on the environment, calling out for a replacement source of energy for electrical generation on a global level. Nuclear power is both a greener source of energy and can be compared to renewable energy due to the high abundance of fuel (i.e. uranium 235) accessible and the efficiency associated with fission process, although the main reoccurring issue associated with nuclear power generation is the disposal an impact of nuclear waste, it is in my opinion that under the conditions that nuclear waste can be contained in a manner that it will not effect the environment or society, nuclear power is the only domestically available power source capable of meeting the global energy requirements of this day and age, thus should be further investigated as an alternative to Fossil fuels.
