Introduction
In every lesson a teacher is required to plan how he is going to teach ensuring that he reach all his objectives at the end of the lesson, leading him to have to choose the best teaching strategy guided by his objectives
For successful teaching and learning, educators must choose the best strategies they can use to teach a chapter, making sure that learners will understand and learn in a process of implementing that strategy. Teaching have revolved over time from direct instruction to more creative teaching strategies. The choice of teaching strategy or strategies to be used depends largely on the information or skill that is being taught, and it may also be influenced by the learning style, aptitude, skills, and enthusiasm of the students, Teaching strategy may have more than one teaching method used to teach a specific topic, thus a teaching method is defined as “a procedure or way of teaching in accordance with a definite plan, such as lecturing, questioning or discussion. Teaching methods are of utmost importance to a teacher as without one, he or she may rumble on without direction.” (Jacobs M, Vakalisa NCG & Gawe N,2016:213).
The teaching strategy used in a class is influenced by the approach that a teacher may take towards his teaching.” In the past teaching was characterized by a focus on the teacher-centered approach where the teacher, as the only source of information, was expected to fill up the empty mind of the learners.” (van den Heever S,2000:12). As I was analyzing the classroom and the teaching strategy chosen, I saw that each and every teaching strategy you implement should be based on what resources you have access to thus following the guidelines of quality learning as learners have to be kept actively involved and part of the lesson not as empty vessels that need to be filled up with information. The teachers teaching strategy should ensure that learners are learning, as learning is main purpose of school.
The teacher knew what she was doing and used all available material, textbooks, Projector, the smart interactive white board and a normal white board to implement her teaching strategy in her mathematics class, this have proven that the better resources you have the better your chances of achieving your implementing your desired teaching strategies for the
