Reflection Of Learning English

Studying English was one of the most important and challenging tasks for me during the high school. Some of the teachers I meet were easy graders, however, others were very difficult. When I first came to the Drexel University, my language skills were not as good as they are today. The English 101 teacher helped me to improve my skills by showing the perspectives of learning and using English in everyday life. A few months later, by working hard on the major projects and informal writings, I have improved my writing and speaking skills. The English 101 class involved all students in working on the major projects. There were three major projects for this term. The first one I had to work on was a persuasive essay. It was about choosing the specific topic and persuading someone about something that must be accepted. “It was required to pass the course. I had to write something about how I persuaded my father to buy me a new Jeep Cherokee and sell the old Chrysler. To do this, I had to apply my current writing skills together and find the way to improve it”(___). By writing and checking this essay for any mistakes with the Drexel Writing Center, I have completely changed my attitude toward writing major projects. For the first project, I had to write a letter to my classmate about his or her project. “I wrote down my ideas and opinions about other student’s essay. Because I knew most of the English rules, I wanted to give my advice to the other students in order to avoid stupid mistakes for them in the future”(___). Due to the short class time, writing the informal essays increased my writing speed and improved my speaking skills too.
