Teachers with Ideal Qualities can positively affect Student Achievement
An ideal teacher is someone who is passionate about teaching, creates a positive teacher/student relationship and classroom environment, and who is creative in his/her teaching.
“A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others” (Unknown Author). The study shows that teachers are the most important part of a child’s education. Great teachers inspire their students towards greatness; poor teachers can negatively impact a student 's education and success. The Kids Creates Blog to The World’s study shows that… Engaging classroom participation in a lesson will get the students’ attention, and by being creative and making the lesson fun or interesting can make an otherwise

I have had many classes in my time where you could totally tell and feel that the teacher hated his/her job. That just makes for a negative experience all day for the whole class. The relationship between students and teacher is negative, and anything the teachers try to teach to the class has no effect on the students. Now take a teacher that loves their job, it will show in the teachers’ attitude and demeanor. Students tend to be more willing to listen and learn from a teacher that is positive, and the overall relationship between student and teacher is assured. Not just that, but the overall feeling in the classroom as a whole, is a feeling of unity, which creates a positive place to learn. So I believe that depending the attitude of the teacher, it can affect the overall learning experience for the
The movie "October Sky" gives a very positive representation of a teacher. She is a role model, a friend, a source of information, a defender, and a fighter. She is portrayed as compassionate, understanding, and very beneficial in keeping the students directed toward their goals. This would seem to say that teachers need these qualities in order to fully relate to their students. A teacher can not only be there for informational needs, but must also stand behind her students and be prepared to defend their rights to discover themselves.
As I read these articles, I agreed with almost everything that was said. The Great Teacher Question: Beyond Competencies, by Edward R. Ducharme begins with a sentence that basically sums up my reason for teaching, “I begin this essay by defining a great teacher as one who influences others in positive ways so that their lives are forever altered” (Ducharme, 1991 p. 2). Over the course of a student’s education they will have many teachers, but there are maybe only one or two who are THE teacher. The teacher who impacts this child’s life in a positive way forever. The rest of the articles follow this same theme, suggesting ways that teachers can become THE teacher. One of the most important qualities I found in these articles (and one I
When it comes to learning the thing that pops up in many people’s mind is boredom especially if they are in a subject they truly despise. Learning can be fun by showing the students how to engage in class discussions that are fun for them as well as making sure the students want to attend class without making them suffer daily. In the short stories, “I Just Wanna Be Average” by Mike Rose and “A Prostitute, A Servant, And A Customer-Service Representative” by Carmen R. Lugo-Lugo they state, how each teacher has their way of teaching and wanting to engage their students. It shows how some teachers will only care to do the basics and not go beyond that like Mike Rose states, in his short story. Carmen Lugo-Lugo states, in her story how the students

In order to become a teacher she has to pursue higher education, graduate with a Bachelor degree, and pass the certification test. Teachers are not in the profession for the money or for the glory, but they truly have a passion for young people. They want to make a difference in the lives of their students. Teachers do not desire to see students fail classes, and they do not enjoy placing failing grades on assignments that the students didn’t put any effort in to. They would much rather have classrooms full of students who are eager and willing to learn. They don’t enjoy standing up in the front of the classroom staring at blank faces, but they desire to see students engaging and being excited about learning. A teacher’s work is never finished and she is never satisfied with the way things are. The responsibility of a teacher is great. Robert J. Marzano, author of The Art and Science of Teaching says, “The teacher must provide clear direction to students and generate an atmosphere in which all students feel valued and intellectually challenged.”(85) She is always looking for ways to make the classroom experience more enjoyable, and one of her top priorities is making sure that her students feel loved. We need to understand that the ideas that many people have about teachers are
# 1 Identify and discuss four dispositions/characteristics you feel an effective teacher MUST possess and provide justification for your thinking using scholarly knowledge from texts, experiences, and classroom discussions. Then, explain which philosophy of education your four chosen dispositions describe. A deep understanding and grounding in the philosophy must be evident in your answer.
There are many skills and attributes needed to make an outstanding teacher. Among them are content knowledge, classroom management, leadership, and compassion.
There are many qualities to an outstanding educator. The most important qualities include experience, the ability to adapt classroom materials to highlight each student's abilities, incorporation of cross-curricular standards, empathy for each individual student, parental involvement, and cooperation amongst other teachers and the administration. All of these qualities also together create a positive learning environment for the students.
There are a few components that work together to show students that teachers care about them. One quality that would show students that their teacher cares about them would
What are characteristics of effective teachers? What is a learning style and why is important for teachers to understand their personal learning style and those of their students? There are multiple definitions of what effective teachers are and how their effectiveness is measured. There are several qualities that effective teachers should possess. Matthew 19:14 says “But Jesus said, Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (King James Version). Teachers should ensure that they are doing their best to help their students learn according to each student’s individual needs. Aspiring teachers need to know the characteristics of effective teachers in order to become better teachers themselves. Effective teachers understand their own learning styles, create a community of learning that includes classroom management and parental involvement, use motivation techniques, differentiate instruction, and have a personal Christian educational philosophy.
An ideal teacher is the one we respect from our heart. He/she acts as a guide to the students, while not pushing them too much. Such a perfect motivates them and boosts their morale. He/she tries to encourage the students and refrains from criticizing them.
The good teacher works with all students.A friend of mine told me how her maths teacher tolerates only students who are good at mathematics or those who have special interest in the subject.Towards the rest of the class my friend says she`s very exacting. She gives homeworks and tests without bothering to ask about difficulties. She doesn`t try to explain it and as a result many students keep getting bad marks.
One quality that would make me a good teacher is, I am good with kids. I believe a teacher needs to be able to care for the children they are teaching. Also, you should be ecstatic about being able to be an influence on their lives. I like working with kids and like to help them understand things they may not know. When I was in Middle School we did a thing called “Study Buddies.” We would go to the classrooms everyday for the last few periods of the day and help kids read and do their homework. I worked with three kids everyday and they were so genuine and appreciative.
Along these two weeks we have been prompt to make a recall to our own way of learning and why we became a teacher: Was it because coincidence, due to life circumstances, maybe because family tradition, was it a conscious decision or because someone influenced us? Whatever the answer is, we have to face reality and be conscious that being a teacher does not only means to teach a lesson and asses students learning. It requires playing the different roles a teacher must perform whenever is needed and required by our learners, identify our pupils needs and preferences, respecting their integrity and individuality but influencing and motivating them to improve themselves and become independent.
Good teachers set high expectations and motivate the students to meet those expectations. As students strive for excellence, teachers assist students in meeting their highest potential through daily lessons. Teachers also serve as role models. Teachers make a contribution to society by preparing students for their real world endeavors. They teach students through example to be kind, respectful, humble, patient and determined.”
