ABSTRACT
Teachers are the builders of nation and the pillars of whole education system. Producing quality teacher specifically in mathematics helps to sustain the development in every field. In this present paper an attempt has been made to show present generation students’ abilities and the required qualities for mathematics teachers to handle the situation are discussed. And also importance of mathematics education, student’s expectation and challenges before the present mathematics teacher and the ways to increase the quality in mathematics teaching are discussed.

All the teacher education programmes and curriculum and syllabus are affiliated by the university. Whatever the methodology, pedagogy, strategies, tools, techniques etc., adopted in the syllabus of teachers education gets succeed only when it comes as a quality product teachers. But when mathematics teacher stand before students they cannot able to clear the goals, this shows that there is a lack in training and professional growth. Our teacher education mathematics syllabus is not producing quality teachers. Are we not practicing properly or drilling them in correct way? Can we say they are not capable? If No – Can we say students are intelligent and smart? To deal with this type of students we must train mathematics teacher to have an educational leadership and quality professional growth. Why do we really need to learn about you every single day for almost a whole hour? Math is important but not to the point where we need to learn how to find the square root of 625 and then subtract X to get how many apples are in a barrel. We will probably never use you in our lives.
As teachers we plan our lessons and think to ourselves, "my students are going to love this lesson and will be able to understand what I am teaching", but sometimes that isn 't the case. You may plan a lesson in hopes that your students understand but it doesn 't go as planned. Every student learns differently and thinks differently and because of this we, as teachers must learn to differentiate our lessons. This may require us to change the way we deliver our lesson, change the activities for our lessons or even change the wording of our material so students understand. In this paper, I will be differentiating a lesson plan based on student readiness, student interest and student learning profile for content, process, and product.
Teacher is a professional who is liked by the people of Malaysia. People already know that the teaching profession is a very noble profession and in our own country, teachers are seen as such a precious and invaluable. But, today there are many issues related to the teacher or education system in our country. Education provides people with the understanding and basis of life. It enables us to explore the world. Teachers are important in a child’s life because children are dependent for guidance, love and knowledge. It is up to us to provide these guidelines to the younger generations.
An effective teacher will excite, inspire and motivate students to be active in their learning, investigate new areas of knowledge and make connections to future learning (Whitton et al 2010). When a teacher is successful, their students are motivated, mutually respectful and ready to build on their knowledge and solve real-world problems. To be a teacher of value, one must have many skills and qualities to cater for a diversity of learners and their individual development; this includes many personal traits that are noticed students.
Although there is some uncertainty as to the nature and order of the relationship between mathematics attitudes and achievement, it is clear that non-cognitive and affective skills, such as attitudes influence students’ attainment of the subject. Consequently, the present will focus on clarifying the relationship by asking students to not only discover their attitudes towards mathematics level, but to also reflect on them and their mathematics achievement.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
Mathematics contributes to everyday life in some way or another. Some situations are simpler than others. Someone may just have to use simple addition or subtraction in paying his or her bills. Or someone may even have to use more complex math like solving for a missing variable in an equation to figure out the dimensions of a building. Mathematics will always be used in everyday life. Some theories and algorithms are more important or used more often than others. Many mathematicians have developed many different things that have contributed to mathematics, such as discovering theories and algorithms. Some mathematicians have done more than others to contribute to the mathematics that people use today. Pythagoras is a very well known mathematician that has contributed to the field of mathematics in a huge way.
Devlin believes that mathematics has four faces 1) Mathematics is a way to improve thinking as problem solving. 2) Mathematics is a way of knowing. 3) Mathematics is a way to improve creative medium. 4) Mathematics is applications. (Mann, 2005). Because mathematics has very important role in our life, teaching math in basic education is as important as any other subjects. Students should study math to help them how to solve problems and meet the practical needs such as collect, count, and process the data. Mathematics, moreover, is required students to be capable of following and understanding the future. Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
Teacher’s grades affect and reflect how well a teacher learned in the courses they studied to become a teacher (Orphanos). The study showed that different types of qualities a teacher can affect the way a student learns and achieves. Some teachers teach verbally and most students have an increase in understanding the teacher. Other students learn differently such as learning visually by looking at something or taking special notes. It’s the teacher’s job to make sure that he or she finds way that is both helpful and understandable to the students. The quality that determines whether what technique to use to help the student, is based on the teacher and his or her observation on viewing how the students learn best. “Some scholars agree that it does not matter what teachers do but they accomplish” (qtd.in Eisenberg). When teaching as a primary or secondary teacher, it is harder for a student to actually care and work hard for an academic achievement. It makes it harder for the teacher to reach out the students but when working for so long and going through different techniques to teach students teachers do not need to have an advanced degree to achieve that goal. At times it is challenging but that is part of teaching there are going to times when it is a bad day and things don’t go the way there suppose to, but no matter what a teacher will wake up the next day and go to the job they
